Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Friendly lady at reception. Great washing up facilities. Clear instructions before we arrived. Washer and dryer available on site for additional fee. Fridge and freezer available (both empty). Showers reasonable. Toilets good. View great from our pitch and other pitches. Nice 2 minute bluebell loop. Family bathroom / showers.

Disliked: Not clear if there was a direct path to the town centre or countryside walks without needing to take a vehicle. Facilities like playgrounds didn’t appear to exist.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Location and views, quiet and reasonably easy to access driving and on foot. Serviced pitches and car charge at pitch permitted. Serviced pitches are level and attractively laid out. Nearby village (Pennal) has good pub, interesting church and friendly locals.

Disliked: Could only give 4 stars because there are other club and affiliated sites with more up market facilities.

Limited facilities might be a problem when site is full?

From the manager: Thank you for your kind review. I would just like to point out that we do not allow car charging on our pitches, the electric plugs are for hooking up normally to a caravan, motorhome or Campervan but not to charge them. Thank you.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The site was lovely. Our pitch number 6 had a fantastic view over the Dyffi estuary. Very quiet but a good number of people about. Facilities clean. Check in was efficient. Very close to Ynhis hyr rspb nature reserve and Dyffi Osprey project in fact we could see the nest from our pitch with binoculars. Will definitely stay here again

Disliked: Nothing not to like.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: A lovely campsite with large level pitches, picnic tables and views across the valley. The toilet and shower facilities are excellent, clean, and with lots of hot water. There's a good pub with food in the nearby village.

Liked: The views the quiet the welcome. Great location. Clean toilets and showers. WiFi was pretty good too.

Disliked: Although the toilets were clean and tidy they had mens showers and women's showers, the toilets were unisex which wasn't popular with my wife.

Local attractions

Four miles to the east is Machynlleth for the local street market on Wednesdays and getting techy at the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT); it's also home to a comedy festival in the spring. Aberystwyth is about a 40-minute drive south for shops, restaurants and nights out. If you’d rather escape the towns, explore the award-winning beaches and harbours (15 minutes' drive) for fishing and strolling. The Aberdyfi estuary’s beaches and sand dunes are some of the best kept in the country, and for those who fancy a round (of golf, that is), the area is also home to an award-winning golf course. For kitesurfers and boarders, beaches at Tywyn, Borth and Fairbourne (the furthest of which is 10 miles away) should offer some exciting sporting opportunities, with some even offering tuition. Back on dry land, the Dyfi Bike Park (10 minutes) is known as one of the best mountain bike locations in all the land. If you prefer more laidback days out, take a trip to Talyllyn’s steam railway (around eight miles away) or travel from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge on the Vale of Rheidol steam railway line.
