  • Well-maintained peaceful rural site 10 minutes' drive from Pembroke
  • Within four miles of Barafundle Bay, Bosherston and Freshwater West
  • Distant sea views and simple facilities; campfires welcome
There are some mighty fine spots around Pembrokeshire – and it has to be said that the folk at Cedar Farm Camping have managed to bag themselves one of those prime positions, within easy reach of some of the county’s most splendid coastal scenery. Getting to this peaceful and pretty part of the world involves driving about 10 minutes from Pembroke, leaving the main roads behind and making your way down some quiet country lanes to find a place that’s all about the rural relaxation (don’t worry if you’re not used to country lanes – they’re perfectly easy to navigate, and staff are always on hand to offer guidance if you get lost among all the greenery…) The rural views from this spot on the edge of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park are generally pure green, but on a clear day you’ll catch glimpses of the sea in the distance. Whether you’ve been treated to that or not, you’ll certainly want to set out to see the sea more closely – and what spectacular beaches you have to choose from, as Freshwater West, Broad Haven South and the utterly gorgeous Barafundle Bay are all within four miles or so. Given the stunning surrounds, you’ll likely be out and about most of the time – and with that in mind the owners have focused on providing a restful place to chill out rather than stacking up lots of unnecessary bits and bobs. That means simply sorting you out with toilets, showers, a water supply and a waste disposal area, and allowing you to spend evenings stoking a barbecue or campfire.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Beautiful views from this site, and the owners were so friendly and helpful. They gave us information on the surrounding area and lent us a mallet as we forgot ours. The little information shed was great. The facilities were good basic, but OK for the few nights we stayed.

Disliked: The shower water pressure wasn't great. The sensor light went off numerous times whilst I was in the shower, I had to open the door and wave my arms to get the light back on - it's a good job no one else was coming in. I'd suggest a sensor above the showers on one with longer timing. The door bolt for the facilities was on the outside, meaning the possibility of getting locked in if someone forgets you're in there on their way out. A path to the wash up facilities would be beneficial, it was very wet whilst e were there, so something bark or gravel would be good.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Site was very quiet and peaceful. Was greeted on arrival despite only booking 20 mins beforehand. Owners were really friendly but not obtrusive. There was a small problem that meant we might have had to move the van once we were all set up, but they sorted it so we didn't have to and keep me updated. Lovely small toilet block with hot showers. Washing up facilities and toilet disposal. So great facilities given the cost and small size of site. Lovely walks from the site. Nearest pub is about an hours walk, so little chance of rowdy neighbours. Overall the site exceeded our expectations and we'd definitely return.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: A lovely site! It's within easy reach of beautiful beaches and tourist spots by car and provides a quiet retreat to escape to. Gorgeous views and perfectly equipt. The facilities were spotlessly clean and the showers hot. The set up was simple with pitches set out and a space allocated for children to play. Although we didn't need anything on this trip there were supplies including wood for making a fire, fresh cakes and children's activities in a small well equipt hut on site. In here there was also info about local attractions and eateries, doctors etc. We loved the free range chickens that were friendly and inquisitive and the owner of the site was very friendly, helpful and unobtrusive. We enjoyed a short trip but will certainly be heading back in the future and for longer stays.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Nice small and quiet campsite, great location for lots of beaches, tenby and the amusement parks for the kids. Owners very helpful and thoughtful helping us pitch in best spot available. Nice safe area for the kids to play and we could watch them from the tent. Short walk to toilets and other facilities. Loved the availability of a fire pit and got a good amount of wood for £10 from the shed. It was very wet three morning we were leaving but owners were flexible with check out time and were happy for us to wait until it was dry later in the day to pack the tent up.

Disliked: Facilities were better than on a lot of campsites we've been to. On the one day they got quite grubby but it was just because it was back holiday Monday and the owners took a day off.. fair enough we all need a break.. on the other days they were cleaned thoroughly. They did occasionally run out of toilet paper so suggest taken a roll just in case. Also be aware the lights are on a sensor so if you have a shower after dark they may turn off mid wash if no one else comes into the bathrooms 🤣

Local attractions

Up for a stroll? It’s a good plan as you can set out on paths very close by to explore the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and wend your way down to the coast itself to see the famed Green Bridge. Down at the coast path you could amble between some of the choice spots along the coast, or choose to settle at one or other. Barafundle Bay (10 minutes’ drive) is the big name around here for its frequent appearances on ‘world’s best beach’ lists, but you should also add in a trip to Broad Haven South, walking down past the huge lily ponds at Bosherston (five minutes) along the way. You may well find the surf waves and beach café at Freshwater West (15 minutes) calling your name too… As well as coast, all trips to these parts should include at least one castle – Pembroke (10 minutes) and lakeside Carew (15 minutes) are your top spots nearby. If you’re here with the nippers, drag them further back in time at the Dinosaur Park (20 minutes).
