  • Serviced campervan pitches in the grounds of a Pembrokeshire pub
  • Folly Farm three minutes' drive; 10 minutes to Tenby or Saundersfoot
  • Family-run pub with beer garden and home-cooked meals
Finding a campervan pitch in the grounds of a pub is always a good idea for ease of access to an evening meal and a drink or two at the end of the day. But it gets even better at The Begelly Arms, where you’ll get not just that but also a handy location that puts you within a short drive of some of Pembrokeshire’s top sights. This family-run pub is about half a mile from Kilgetty, in a convenient spot close to both the A477 and A478 for easy journeys to all sorts of places – Folly Farm is pretty much just round the corner, while the beaches of Tenby, Amroth and Saundersfoot are about 10 minutes’ drive away, as are places like Carew Castle and Manor Wildlife Park. That means filling your days should be straightforward – and so should catering for your evenings, since the pub has a restaurant serving up home-cooked meals (using local seasonal produce where possible). There’s a good range of drinks, too – including an impressive array of whiskies – which you can sip in the cosy interior or out in the beer garden on sunnier days. You’ll set up in the pub’s car park, which has a small number of dog-friendly hardstanding pitches with grass areas and services including water, waste and electricity. You’ll have access to the pub’s toilets during opening hours, and you can also buy breakfasts in the restaurant if you like. Dogs are welcome on site, but not inside the pub.

This pub stopover offers excellent value with level hardstanding pitches including EHU and water. Facilities are generally clean, with toilets accessible 24/7. Staff are frequently praised as friendly and helpful. While there are no showers, guests appreciate the convenient location for exploring Tenby and Saundersfoot, and the on-site pub offers good food. Fully-serviced hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Good size level pitch easy acess plenty of room water point and waste disposal point good location local bus stop and shop within walking distance dog friendly

Disliked No showers and outside toilet on site no waste bins on site

From the manager: Wow thanks. 4/10 Well we tried, and hoped we could provide a place where people could come based on the Aire type ethos from abroad. where a self sufficient camper van's can park and be secure and safe, the camping and caravan club refused us a licence suggesting there were enough camp sites already. So we applied for membership of CAMpRA.
(Campaign for real Aires) an Aire is a place with no facilities, and based on a "LEAVE NO TRACE" philosophy excepting perhaps water electric and a waste disposal point. which is what we have, but we also as a courtesy leave the hotel doors open for guests to use our pub toilets.

The LEAVE NO TRACE PHILOSOPHY includes your rubbish, as we are a commercial site, we pay for all recycling and rubbish collection and if we supplied bins for camper recycling we would have to charge accordingly which is why our rates are so low like £17.50 a night. YOU MIGHT BE BETTER OFF GOUING TO A PROPER CAMPING PARK WHERE THE CHARGES ARE MORE LIKE £45 A NIGHT BUT YOU GET THE SERVICES YOU WANT.

ALL YOUR REVIEW HAS DONE IS MAKE ME THINK WHY DID I BOTHER PROVIDING A SAFE ENVIRONEMNT FOR CUSTOMERS TO USE WITH A BAR AND RESTAURANT.
SORRY YOU WERE NOT HAPPY

Would definitely return.

Fully-serviced hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked The Begelly Pub was a very basic pitch, without scenic views we have grown to like on our tour of Wales. Our stay was in wet weather so we welcomed having a pub with big tables for a family game and a simple, cheap pub meal.

Disliked We disliked sharing the toilet block with the pub customers making it awkward being in your PJs or brushing teeth whilst people were enjoying their night out.

Unfortunately we had booked pub breakfast but it was cancelled

From the manager: Hi and thanks for the review, We are a very basic place with hard standing pitches, but central for buses and trains into and out of local villages

We are a CAMpRA site as a camper aire stop and do not provide showers or changing facilities. the idea of camper site is to be self sufficient and leave no trace, all we have is 24 hour access toilet facilities the majority of camper vans have facilities on board or should have ?

Local attractions

Less than two miles up the A478, Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (five minutes’ drive) has indoor and outdoor play areas (including a massive pirate-themed adventure centre with a life-size ship), vintage rides and a barn with a cwtch (cuddle) corner where the kids get to pet farmyard animals. Colourful cottages provide the backdrop to the sandy beach in Tenby (10 minutes), which has shallow waters and the distinctive Goscar Rock at its centre. From the pier, it’s possible to take a boat to Caldey Island, where the resident monks make chocolate and lavender perfume, and where you might spot seals basking on the shore. Guided tours at Pembroke Castle (20 minutes) are included in the entry fee, and it’s well worth joining one to learn about the history of this 11th-century fortress. This is where King Henry VII was born in 1457. The moment after his birth is portrayed in one of several recreated scenes that also show a medieval banquet and key moments from the Civil War.
