  • Serviced campervan pitches in the grounds of a Pembrokeshire pub
  • Folly Farm three minutes' drive; 10 minutes to Tenby or Saundersfoot
  • Family-run pub with beer garden and home-cooked meals
Finding a campervan pitch in the grounds of a pub is always a good idea for ease of access to an evening meal and a drink or two at the end of the day. But it gets even better at The Begelly Arms, where you’ll get not just that but also a handy location that puts you within just a short drive of some of Pembrokeshire’s top attractions (beaches, castles and family attractions among them). This family-run pub is about half a mile from Kilgetty, in a very convenient spot close to both the A477 and A478 for easy journeys to all sorts of places – Folly Farm is pretty much just round the corner, and the beaches of Tenby, Amroth and Saundersfoot are about 10 minutes’ drive away, as are places like Carew Castle and Oakwood Theme Park. That means filling your days should be straightforward – and so should catering for your evenings, as the pub has a restaurant serving up home-cooked meals (using local seasonal produce where possible). There’s a good range of drinks, too – including an impressive range of whiskies – which you can sip in the cosy interior or out in the beer garden on sunnier days. You’ll be pitching up in the pub’s car park, which has a small number of dog-friendly hardstanding pitches with grass areas and services including water, waste and electricity. You’ll have access to the pub’s toilets during opening hours, and you can also buy breakfasts in the restaurant if you like. Dogs are welcome on site, but not inside the pub please.

Liked Pitches great. Clean easy access very flat. Electric hookup, water and a picnic table readily available. Toilets inside building open 24 hours

Disliked Supposedly dog friendly but no dogs allowed inside the Hotel so no option of having a drink or food. No litter bins provided.

I was apprehensive about staying at a pub as a solo traveller…

Fully-serviced hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked I was apprehensive about staying at a pub as a solo traveller but need not have been. It had been thoughtfully planned out with four beautifully paved pitches with water, EHU, picnic table and brolly and a beautiful paved pitch complete with planters full of summer flowers. The best two nights’ sleep I’ve had on my month long trip. I chose it because it was near a bus stop with a regular (hourly) service to Saundersfoot and Tenby in one direction and Haverfordwest in the other direction. Very good value especially compared with some other sites. The only reason for not giving a 10 score is because there is no showering facility, dish washing area, nor, curiously enough, anywhere to put rubbish, although, to be fair, I did know about all of these except the lack of rubbish disposal when I signed up. I was very very pleasantly surprised.

From the manager: Thank you for your review and comments very much appreciated. in relation to your query regarding showers etc and also rubbish disposal,
We are registered as a camper Aire and the CAMpRA guidelines say campers are and should be self sufficient with showers and toilets, we are not a camp site but a stopover with limited services. In relation to rubbish again CAMpRA Guidelines as follows:
CAMpRA guidelines for motorhome "aires" (short stay, self-contained parking areas) focus on responsible use and minimal impact. Key aspects include requiring self-contained vehicles, limiting stay duration (typically 48 hours with no return within 7 days), maintaining spacing between vehicles, and promoting "leave no trace" practices.
Key CAMpRA Guidelines:
Self-Contained Vehicles Only:
Aires are designed for motorhomes with onboard facilities, including toilets and waste water tanks.
Limited Stay Duration:
A maximum stay of 48 hours is common, with a mandatory "no return" period (e.g., 7 days) to prevent long-term parking.
Spacing Requirements:
Vehicles should be parked with a minimum distance between them (e.g., 3 meters) to allow for safe access and prevent overcrowding.
"Leave No Trace" Principle:
This emphasizes responsible behavior, including proper disposal of waste and avoiding any actions that could damage the site or surrounding environment.
No Camping Behavior:
Aires are intended for overnight parking, not for setting up awnings, chairs, or engaging in camping activities outside the vehicle.
Specific Restrictions:
Some aires may have additional rules, such as restrictions on the use of BBQs, awnings, or external solar panels.
Responsible Waste Disposal:
Motorhome owners are expected to dispose of chemical toilet waste and grey water responsibly, following guidelines to prevent pollution.
