  • Serviced campervan pitches in the grounds of a Pembrokeshire pub
  • Folly Farm three minutes' drive; 10 minutes to Tenby or Saundersfoot
  • Family-run pub with beer garden and home-cooked meals
Finding a campervan pitch in the grounds of a pub is always a good idea for ease of access to an evening meal and a drink or two at the end of the day. But it gets even better at The Begelly Arms, where you’ll get not just that but also a handy location that puts you within a short drive of some of Pembrokeshire’s top sights. This family-run pub is about half a mile from Kilgetty, in a convenient spot close to both the A477 and A478 for easy journeys to all sorts of places – Folly Farm is pretty much just round the corner, while the beaches of Tenby, Amroth and Saundersfoot are about 10 minutes’ drive away, as are places like Carew Castle and Manor Wildlife Park. That means filling your days should be straightforward – and so should catering for your evenings, since the pub has a restaurant serving up home-cooked meals (using local seasonal produce where possible). There’s a good range of drinks, too – including an impressive array of whiskies – which you can sip in the cosy interior or out in the beer garden on sunnier days. You’ll set up in the pub’s car park, which has a small number of dog-friendly hardstanding pitches with grass areas and services including water, waste and electricity. You’ll have access to the pub’s toilets during opening hours, and you can also buy breakfasts in the restaurant if you like. Dogs are welcome on site, but not inside the pub.

Liked Value for money and pub on doorstep

Disliked No showers however price was exceptional

From the manager: I see your a drone pilot and enthusiats like myself. Thanks for the positives on your review appreciated. Yes we are a Hotel and pub and that is the point. We are not a camp site but a stopover and parking area for campers with no services apart from water electric and ELSAN disposal, most campers have showers included in the vehicle, some are adapted and don't have the showers. there are other proper camp sites close to us that offer the facilities there are 2 on our street but the stopover charges are more as they offer those facilities

Liked Nice pub with decent meals

Disliked Not practical for dog

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Good Morning and thasnk you for the review which is always appreciated. I however am a little confused by the dislike you say "Not Practical For a Dog" Our camnper pitches allow dogs, we do suggest to customers to keep them on leads as our car park is busy, and we want safety for both visitors to the pub and also your dog, there are several dog walks close by, such as the miners walk literally 60 yards from the pub. If you are referring to why we do not allow dogs inside our premises then its simple we are a food premises and sometimes dogs can get growly with sight of other dogs etc and kids that play can irritate dogs to a point that they bark etc so we choose to keep dogs outside. and under your control as they are your dogs visiting our premises .

Liked Very friendly and welcoming staff. Good food. Toilet facilities available all night.

Disliked No shower facilities

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Sorry but we are not a camp site, and most campers are self sufficient with showers etc our licence is for camper vans only with CAMpRA .

There are sites close to us that offer the facilities you may require like showers, Buttles Caravan Park, and the Grange both on the same road as us, with the facilities you want as well.

Local attractions

Less than two miles up the A478, Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (five minutes’ drive) has indoor and outdoor play areas (including a massive pirate-themed adventure centre with a life-size ship), vintage rides and a barn with a cwtch (cuddle) corner where the kids get to pet farmyard animals. Colourful cottages provide the backdrop to the sandy beach in Tenby (10 minutes), which has shallow waters and the distinctive Goscar Rock at its centre. From the pier, it’s possible to take a boat to Caldey Island, where the resident monks make chocolate and lavender perfume, and where you might spot seals basking on the shore. Guided tours at Pembroke Castle (20 minutes) are included in the entry fee, and it’s well worth joining one to learn about the history of this 11th-century fortress. This is where King Henry VII was born in 1457. The moment after his birth is portrayed in one of several recreated scenes that also show a medieval banquet and key moments from the Civil War.
