  • Serviced campervan pitches in the grounds of a Pembrokeshire pub
  • Folly Farm three minutes' drive; 10 minutes to Tenby or Saundersfoot
  • Family-run pub with beer garden and home-cooked meals
Finding a campervan pitch in the grounds of a pub is always a good idea for ease of access to an evening meal and a drink or two at the end of the day. But it gets even better at The Begelly Arms, where you’ll get not just that but also a handy location that puts you within a short drive of some of Pembrokeshire’s top sights. This family-run pub is about half a mile from Kilgetty, in a convenient spot close to both the A477 and A478 for easy journeys to all sorts of places – Folly Farm is pretty much just round the corner, while the beaches of Tenby, Amroth and Saundersfoot are about 10 minutes’ drive away, as are places like Carew Castle and Manor Wildlife Park. That means filling your days should be straightforward – and so should catering for your evenings, since the pub has a restaurant serving up home-cooked meals (using local seasonal produce where possible). There’s a good range of drinks, too – including an impressive array of whiskies – which you can sip in the cosy interior or out in the beer garden on sunnier days. You’ll set up in the pub’s car park, which has a small number of dog-friendly hardstanding pitches with grass areas and services including water, waste and electricity. You’ll have access to the pub’s toilets during opening hours, and you can also buy breakfasts in the restaurant if you like. Dogs are welcome on site, but not inside the pub.

What customers say

This pub stopover offers level hardstanding pitches with electric and water, appreciated for their convenience and value. The on-site pub serves good food, and staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful. Toilets are accessible 24/7. While no showers are available, this is understood as it's a pub stopover rather than a full campsite. Some guests noted a lack of general rubbish bins, with the policy being to take rubbish home, in line with CAMpRA guidelines.

From the manager: Well thats a little unfair we allow and let dogs on site and they are also allowed outside the pub but not inside. Please remember they are your dogs not ours, or our other customers. your dogs are yours to look after and we allow them outside and there are numerous walks around where dogs can go. dogs are not allowed inside because of their reactions 1. to other dogs and also children who sometimes make noises and alert dogs our customers do not want that inside so we rule dogs outside sorry if its not your taste but remember dogs are not everyones taste so be mindfull please

Local attractions

Less than two miles up the A478, Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (five minutes’ drive) has indoor and outdoor play areas (including a massive pirate-themed adventure centre with a life-size ship), vintage rides and a barn with a cwtch (cuddle) corner where the kids get to pet farmyard animals. Colourful cottages provide the backdrop to the sandy beach in Tenby (10 minutes), which has shallow waters and the distinctive Goscar Rock at its centre. From the pier, it’s possible to take a boat to Caldey Island, where the resident monks make chocolate and lavender perfume, and where you might spot seals basking on the shore. Guided tours at Pembroke Castle (20 minutes) are included in the entry fee, and it’s well worth joining one to learn about the history of this 11th-century fortress. This is where King Henry VII was born in 1457. The moment after his birth is portrayed in one of several recreated scenes that also show a medieval banquet and key moments from the Civil War.
