  • Wild camping site with direct access to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path
  • A 15-minute walk to Broad Haven beach; half an hour to Druidston beach
  • Woodland walk on site; walking distance from pubs and restaurants
Kick back with the Pembrokeshire Coast Path on your doorstep, then go surfing, canoeing or paddleboarding down at Broad Haven beach, 15 minutes’ walk away. That’s a little taste of the life at Wild Coastal Camping, a wild camping site in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park with splendid sea views over St Brides Bay and direct access to the coastal path. There are other options for getting your sea fix, of course, like sea angling down at Druidston beach half an hour’s walk away or wildlife spotting around the coastal trails. There are plenty of walks and wildlife hotspots within walking distance of the site, as it's on the edge of a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Common sights include puffins, peregrine falcons, choughs, seals, rabbits or even donkeys. Since the site is part of a working farm, there are portable toilet facilities (due to rules in the national park), hot showers for cleaning up and a mains water supply. That’s not forgetting the woodland walk around the farm if you’re pining for more peaceful strolls. As well as watersports equipment hire, Broad Haven also has a rather excellent selection of bars, pubs, cafĂ©s and restaurants for you to take your pick from. There's a food shop on the waterfront, making it easy to keep on top of your food stores (and you may be interested to ask around about the alien sightings in the 1970s too).

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked: An easy place to find and a great place to unwind and take in the cliff top views. A huge area to accommodate all those that were camping with lots of space between each pitch. The shower and toilet facilities were excellent and very clean. The owner and his son are very friendly and they aim to please. No Wi-Fi as we had 5g with our mobile EE

Disliked: There wasn’t anything we disliked about the site.

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked: The amazing and stunning location, the immediate access to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path; fifteen minute walk through amazing scenery to the sandy Broad Haven Beach; the friendly and helpful owner/farmer/supporting team; his personal welcome as well as the help he and the handyman gave to help us with a malfunction on our van; the recycling and composting facilities at the campsite, the warm shower, the simplicity of the facilities had their own appeal and charm. Very windy spot, but I assume it's usually windy. Made it exhilerating!

Liked: We loved the natural site. Coming from farming/rural background it’s lovely to see unspoilt lands being used for a getaway by the sea. Beautiful view, with an easy slip onto the coastal path, perfect for those who enjoy a lovely stroll along the coast, and just a short walk to the town. Plenty of space, loved the converted loos/shower. Waste and recycling bins provided. Friendly host, very welcoming and informative, offered us shelter from the windy weather expected if required. Thank you so much!

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked: The view was the most beautiful we’ve had in our campervan. Overlooking the sea and not too many cans so a really good view out. The facilities were amazing considering they were basic. Portaloos were clean and even had air fresheners - obviously kept on top of very we’ll although didn’t see anyone. It was quiet and picturesque with lovely walks down to the beaches.

Disliked: The shower was burning hot
never experienced even a warm porta shower before, no idea how they got it so hot but it burned my husbands face when it came on and I couldn’t have stood under it. Meal times down in the town were a bit odd. We got there late and couldn’t find more than a bag of crisps to eat after 9pm on a Saturday. Places stopped serving food at 3pm on Sunday and didn’t start again until 8pm which seemed bizarre. We found it funny and just ate pot noodles at the van instead but worth noting

Local attractions

Those of you who are on a mission to tick off some of Pembrokeshire’s coastal havens will be in luck. The site is just a short journey from Little Haven (five minutes’ drive), a very characterful fishing village with a beach. If you want to join the surf brigade at Newgale beach (15 minutes), simply hire out a board from the beach and line up out back. If catching swells isn’t enough of a thrill, your next stop could be Oakwood Theme Park (half an hour) or the Blue Lagoon Water Park (half an hour) for rollercoasters, slides and that sort of stuff. Family-friendly options for theme parks, especially if your kids are on the younger side, include Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (35 minutes) and Heatherton World of Activities (35 minutes). In fact, Heatherton has its own high ropes course, which will really put your bravery to the test. It’s likely you’ve already done your fair share of wildlife spotting along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, so to continue along those lines, there’s a walking safari around Manor Wildlife Park (35 minutes).
