Kite View Farm: Sheltered tent pitch

General

  • Rural Pembrokeshire site 10 minutes' drive from Haverfordwest
  • A 10-minute drive to Broad Haven beach; 20 minutes to Pembroke
  • Secluded dog-friendly pitches among woods and wildflower meadow

Tossing up between a break on the coast or the countryside? Both are equally easily accessed from Kite View Farm, a rural site 10 minutes’ drive from Haverfordwest (and how handy that is, for Pembrokeshire has much to explore on both counts…)

If you’re looking to surround yourself with nature, this could well be the place for you – it’s part of a working permaculture farm with its own ancient woodland (where you can sleep among the trees if you wish) along with a six-acre wildflower and herb meadow to pitch up in.

Take wanders along local footpaths for a good rural fix if you like, or head to the coast to soak up the sea air: St Bride’s Bay is about a 10-minute drive away for walks on the Wales Coast Path or days on Broad Haven beach. Popular spots like Barafundle Bay, Marloes Sands, Tenby and St Davids are all within a half-hour drive too, although there are lots of hidden gems to find too if you know where to look.

Facilities here include showers and compost loos, along with ice pack freezing to keep your food cool. Dogs are welcome to join you at this rural haven, and are provided with a dog park so they can have a good run about without disturbing the peace.

Please note

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Mark was absolutely excellent, super friendly and helpful! He went above and beyond, He found us a perfect hide away pitch within the woodland and he ensured we were happy and set up and anything we needed he had no problem helping.
The compost toilets and shower were always clean and tidy.

We loved our stay and will definitely be returning! :)

Such a beautiful place! Loads of space between pitches, lovely surprise that our pitch had its own (extremely clean!) compost toilet so no trekking to the loo. Had our own fire pit and picnic bench too. Couldn't have been more perfect. Was our first time taking our toddler camping for a tester night and he had a blast, thank you!

Local attractions

Point your compass towards the Pembrokeshire coast… with surf kit hire and lessons available at Newgale beach (20 minutes’ drive), you could pick up a new hobby easily. Sea angling and activities on the sand are the sort of thing you’ll want to get stuck into on Marloes Sands (20 minutes), a long, rocky stretch of sand, while Tenby (half an hour) has tons more watersports rentals, as well as rib rides or trails around the town for those who’d rather stay dry.

To round off your coastal itinerary, you might want to call in at Britain’s smallest city, St Davids (half an hour), or bring your bucket and spades down to the stunning sand on Barafundle Bay (half an hour). The coastal path is one way to make your way around the many coves, stopping off at Bosherston lily ponds (25 minutes) to see the water lilies.

If you’re able to pull yourself away from the coast, there’s a lot of places to visit inland too, from a guided tour around the huge Pembroke Castle (20 minutes) to a visit to Llys-y-frân (25 minutes), a lake in the Preseli Hills where watersports and outdoor activities are the speciality – you could try out archery, canoeing or paddleboarding.
