  • Back to basics camping site on five acres of Pembrokeshire farmland
  • A 10-minute drive from beaches; half an hour from St Davids
  • Dog-friendly site with eco compost toilets and campfires welcome
This pretty off-grid campsite is located on a farm with llama's, alpacas, donkeys, chicken and ducks. Set in a 12-acre field, five acres are set aside for camping and five acres for a fledgling arboretum, with the remaining two acres for the animals. There's peaceful farmland all around and a good view of the Preseli Hills from the top of the hill on site (if you’re an artist you might want to pack some supplies, say the owners – it’s the kind of outlook that inspires people to paint…). And it’s not just the countryside that’s fab around here – the coast is pretty special too, and it’s only a mere 10-minute drive to the coast from base. The location here is fairly central to St Bride’s Bay, so you can pick from Newgale (for surfing), Broad Haven (for family paddling), Nolton Haven (for horse riding) and Druidston Haven (for sea cave explores). Stays at this site are described as ‘semi-wild camping’, which means that you’ll be able to pick a pitch you like the look of but you’ll also have access to basic amenities like drinking water, hot showers and clean eco-friendly compost toilets. Dogs are welcome on site, as are campfires in firepits; friendly owners John and Ingrid can usually sort you out with some firewood and bricks to go round a campfire if you’d prefer to start a blaze the traditional way (just ask at the static caravan). For other bits and bobs, head to Haverfordwest, 10 minutes’ drive away.

Non-electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Sehr freundliche, engagierte und aufgeschlossene Inhaberin, die den Platz weiterentwickeln will. Sehr ruhig. Sehr schöne Lage und Aussicht. Der Name passt. Handy aufkaden war unoroblematisch möglich.

Disliked: Sehr einfache Komposttoiletten. Im Duschwagen keine Toiletten. Entfernung zwischen Toiletten und Duschen sehr lang ca. 200 m.

Non-electric grass and earth campervan pitch

Liked: Very friendly staff. A site definitely if you want a bit of the wild camping experience.

Disliked: I actually booked the wrong site when I booked here. The toilets were compost the showers were clean but water kept going cold. Was okay if you wanted wild type camping. But we was hoping for a more of a proper site. My fault entirely.

Non-electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: we arrived later than expected so we found a field with tents already set up and pitched up in the dark (not the first time)and to our surprise we woke up to a stunning view. we introduced ourselves to a lady (the owner) riding around on a grass mower who was very friendly and helpful and didn't mind us turning up late.. we stayed for 2 nights there was clean water at hand and showers and a compost loo which were very clean and chemical free. we also got to meet the 2 residential donkeys and llamas who are friendly. well we didn't get spat at lol A 15minute drive to Broad Haven beach lovely little villages to see but u will need transport or be pretty fit if you like walking. will be returning for more getaways

Disliked: cant think of any

Local attractions

Beach life is never far off around Pembrokeshire, and the roster of sandy stretches around Farview is a particularly fine one: Druidston Haven, Broad Haven, Nolton Haven and Newgale are all excellent places to visit, with gorgeous views and activities galore. None is more than 10 minutes’ drive from the farm. Elsewhere along the coast, make a detour to Dale (25 minutes’ drive) to board boat trips to Skomer, a wildlife paradise packed with puffins and popular with other seabirds, seals and dolphins too. If you’d rather stick to dry land, get your boots on and pick a chunk of the Wales Coast Path to stride along. The pick of the area’s historic sights might be Picton Castle & Gardens (20 minutes), along with the must-see cathedral and Bishop’s Palace in St Davids (half an hour). Book ahead for boats over to Ramsey Island from St Davids, and plan to stop off in the pretty fishing village of Solva (20 minutes) en route to the UK’s smallest city too.
