Yet-Y-Gors Campsite and Fishery: Large caravan overlooking the lake

General

  • Peaceful site five minutes from the ferry to Ireland
  • Four fishing lakes surrounded by acres of green countryside
  • Well-equipped static caravans overlooking the lakes

Fishing holidays in Fishguard: sorted. And non-fishing holidays in Fishguard: also sorted. Hook a stay at scenic and peaceful Yet-Y-Gors Campsite and Fishery for a break in spectacular surroundings, on peaceful grounds with four fishing lakes for anglers and in a setting where stunning stars and sunsets await for travellers of all types.

Accommodation at Yet-Y-Gors is in a well-equipped static caravan overlooking one of the lakes, with plenty of seating, a good-sized kitchen and outdoor decking for those outdoor eats.

If you’re not an angler, or are a fishing widow/er, it's handy to note that 17 acres of quiet countryside surround the site for serene strolls, and there's much more to explore in the nearby Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Alternatively, head off to Fishguard (five minutes’ drive away) or St Davids and Haverfordwest for sightseeing and shopping. You could (brownie points time) go shopping too for outdoor eats under these clear night skies; shops stuffed with local produce are within easy reach and Fishguard has a food market twice a week.

The fishing lakes are open to all levels of ability from novice to expert and are stocked with a wide range of coarse fish: carp, grass carp, common carp, Koi carp, ghost carp, perch, roach, tench and bream are all here to land. The owners can supply all you need for a day's angling at the site’s tackle shop, where live bait and tackle is for sale and rods are available for hire. There’s plenty of room around the lakes for all too, so peaceful days are pretty much guaranteed. The lakes are open to all abilities and tuition is available.

Please note

Facilities/activities including fishing are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

If reception is closed on arrival: please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Please bring disposable gloves and hand sanitiser/antibacterial hand wash with you to use on site.

Daily usage of 10kWh is included in the price. Additional usage is charged at £0.25 per kWh and must be paid at check-out.

Spiders friendly, old style caravan need renovation

From the manager...

We make no secret that the caravan is of an older style. The price reflects the offer and the pictures are accurate reflection of the caravan. The guest admitted that she had not looked at the pictures before arrival nor read the information thoroughly as they were unaware that bed linen needed to be requested. Spiders can be found in any property and I dispute that the caravan was not clean, it is thoroughly cleaned before each and every arrival. As for value for money, I find it difficult to understand, especially at this time in the year, with gas and electric included they would get better value. Also the electric panel heater was left on.

If you are looking for a wild, exciting action packed holiday with noisy club house loads of kids and all that that entails, don't go Yet-Y-Gors.
If yo are looking for somewhere quiet, relaxing where you can put the world on pause yet with lots to see and do locally when you feel active this is the place for you.
If you don't fish a visit to Yet-Y-Gors is a good time to start.

The owners were lovely and the plans they have for the site will be a huge turn around. I genuinely believe it will be a lovely place to stay after.

    Disliked:

Unfortunately the bed was awful, actually slept on the living room seating. I feel the caravan needs updating. Also, the resturant they recommended was terrible. We ordered a pizza and it was completely raw except for some melted cheddar.

From the manager...

We are aware that the caravan is very old and the price does reflect this. We are planning a refurb of the site as new owners . Thank you for highlighting the bed issue.
Sorry to hear that the food was not as expected at the restaurant.

Very clean and tidy. A peaceful setting with very helpful and friendly owners. The lakes are well kept and great for fishing and waling around. There is a really good pub 10-15 minutes walk away which serves good food and the owners are very hospitable.

Very close to Fishguard, St.Davids, Strumble Head and coast path walks. If you are a golf-ist, there are plenty of places to swing your bats.

    Disliked:

Not the best mobile signal but this is more to do with the ineptitude of UK mobile service providers. O2 & Vodafone predictably poor, EE is ok.

Local attractions

There’s loads to do for all ages and tastes around Pembrokeshire: golf, sea and coarse fishing, kayaking, coasteering, rock climbing, surfing, bodyboarding, horse riding, castles, gardens and boat trips are all around the coast and inland. Yet-Y-Gors owners Alison and Norman are happy to help with whatever you need or to point you in the right direction with whatever you need.

Shopping and local produce? The site is 20 minutes’ drive from Haverfordwest, 25 from St Davids and 40 from Cardigan; closer to home, Fishguard has a market in the town hall on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. If the weather’s less than kind (or you’re craving a workout), Fishguard’s leisure centre has a pool and fitness suite – and a sauna for steamy times afterwards.

The site’s a top spot for overnight touring breaks too, as the ferry from Fishguard to Ireland’s Rosslare is five minutes’ drive away.
