  • Family-friendly site with sea views, 10 minutes’ drive from Fishguard
  • Dinas Mountain 10 minutes’ drive; Cardigan half an hour
  • Dogs welcome; launderette; communal microwave and freezer
Whether you’re into long hikes along the rugged northern coast of Pembrokeshire (thank you, Pembrokeshire Coast Path) or exploring pretty beaches hidden in small, sheltered coves, Fishguard Bay Caravan & Camping Park puts you within easy access of your pleasure. This peaceful spot sits just off the A487 linking Fishguard (10 minutes’ drive) and Cardigan (half an hour), high atop a cliff with spectacular views of St George’s Channel. Into watersports? Nearby beaches (all about a 10-minute drive from the site) include Goodwick Sands, whose shallow waters are great for kids (and the family dog) to splash around; Cwm-yr-Eglwys, a popular spot for rockpooling and watersports; and Pwllgwaelod Beach, surrounded by tall cliffs that are home to fulmars and peregrine falcons. Speaking of birds… if you’re after a bird’s eye view of Pembrokeshire’s north coast, head to Dinas Mountain (10 minutes), from the summit of which, on clear days, you might also catch a glimpse of Ireland’s Wicklow Hills. All pitches at Fishguard Bay come with electrical hook-ups, and on-site amenities include a launderette and a washing-up room with communal microwave ovens and a freezer for ice packs. There’s a small food shop, too (alternatively, the nearest store is five minutes’ drive along the A487). For an added touch of luxury, the modern toilet/shower block features underfloor heating.

What customers say

This cliff-top site boasts stunning sea views and direct access to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Visitors praise the cleanliness of facilities, helpful staff, and peaceful atmosphere. However, some reviews highlight narrow access roads, pitches being close to or between static caravans, and occasional noise from a generator. Pitch suitability for motorhomes and caravans has also been noted as an issue by some.

Electric grass pitch

Liked We stayed at Fishguard Camping for a week and really enjoyed our stay. The site is calm and peaceful with beautiful views out towards the ocean. There’s a lovely mix of camping pitches, cute little huts and rental cabins, with some of the log cabins also available to purchase.

It is very much a quiet, pitch-up-and relax kind of place, although we do feel it would benefit from some light entertainment or a little more going on, particularly for guests staying for a full week. Overall, a lovely peaceful site in a beautiful setting. 🌊⛺

Disliked The main areas we feel could be improved are the facilities. The showers still have push taps, which can be quite inconvenient, and unfortunately a few of the door handles were broken. A little more attention to the general cleaning would also make a big difference.

The grounds could do with some extra care too, as some of the hedges were quite overgrown. We also feel that some light entertainment would be a great addition, particularly for guests staying for a week or longer. It could give people a little something to enjoy in the evenings while potentially bringing in some additional revenue for the site.

These are all relatively small improvements that we feel could make an already lovely, peaceful campsite even better.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Very quiet, picturesque views, felt luxurious. Showers and toilets were immaculate.

Disliked Pitch we had, had very little room for chairs etc outside compared to others. Nobody was on the pitch next to us so we were able to use some of their space but it would have been very tight if they were. Other pitches across the site looked big, just seemed to be pitches 10 & 11 that were tight for space.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Once we were on a different pitch the site was lovely and quiet with great views.
Friendly staff
Great walks directly onto the costal path

Disliked Pitches are not at all level, even struggled with chocks.
Pitches in the middle area are over crowded and forced in between lodge parking. There is also a generator in this area which is noisy and on 24/7.
It had a small shop but would have been great to maybe have some food vans etc. as otherwise everything requires a drive into Fishguard.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Very quiet and clean resort with helpful staff, not too big overall but really spacious and well maintained pitches
Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking views

Disliked We had some problems with driving in tent pegs, we had to move our daughters tent few times as whatever was underneath the ground was really hard in some areas of the pitch

Electric grass pitch

Liked The facilities and staff were excellent. The toilet and shower blocks were clean and well maintained, and the laundry room had everything you could need. The site was very peaceful, making it a relaxing place to stay.

Disliked The sea-view pitches were disappointing. Given the location, we expected much better views, but our pitch was behind the toilet block, so that was all we could see.

The on-site shop also closed at 4:30 pm on a Saturday, which seemed quite early. It wasn’t a problem for us because we came well prepared, but it could be inconvenient for other guests.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Nice clean site with good well defined pitches and stunning view from the cliffs of the bay.

Disliked Of 4 of the male showers 2 were cold, all of the main area basin had no hot water either. On our pitch the electric was not working. Raised it with reception and nothing done with the electric until it was raised again and then we had to move pitches! The hot water was never fixed. Power for the site was provided by a large diesel generator that was on 24hr with the noise equivalent to a very large articulated lorry constantly idling. One evening it ran out of diesel for about half an hour with no electricity.

Local attractions

Fishguard’s pretty Lower Harbour is surrounded by vegetation-covered hills, where trails lead to the ruins of an old fort. From there you can admire ferries sailing in and out of the new harbour, which sits between Fishguard and Goodwick. Near the ferry terminal is Ocean Lab - Sea Trust Wales, with an aquarium and organised rockpool safaris. Tŷ Canol National Nature Reserve (20 minutes) is dotted with archaeological remains, such as the Neolithic-era Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber (a sort of miniature Stonehenge) and the Waun Mawn Standing Stones. Castell Henllys Iron Age Village is a reconstructed settlement with roundhouses, plus re-enactments and workshops. On the banks of the River Teifi, in Cardigan (half an hour), is a castle whose medieval walls enclose an elegant Georgian house and garden. Just outside the town, the modern Welsh Wildlife Centre has informative displays on the surrounding Teifi Marsh Nature Reserve, which is home to dragonflies, mallards and otters.
