Grass pitches with sea views

  • Small, quiet site with sea views; two miles from the coast at Llanelli
  • Within half an hour's drive of the Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons
  • Great cycling access to Swiss Valley Trail and Millennium Coastal Path
A well-placed Carmarthenshire site with stunning sea views, Caemawr Camping and Caravan Site is a small, quiet spot close to Llanelli. There's plenty to do around and about – coastal strolls along the Millennium Coastal Path, taking in the Swiss Valley Trail's green vistas by bike or driving out to the Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons are all options on the table. You can expect flat and level grounds for pitching up on, as well as a modern shower and toilet block. Other than that, you'll be left to your own devices – it's up to you whether you opt to set up a barbecue, kindle a campfire, cycle five minutes down the road for dinner at the nearest pub or take the dog (if you've brought one) out for walks on the beach. Speaking of the sea, Caemawr Camping and Caravan Site is roughly two miles from the nearest stretch of coast, where local highlights include Llanelli beach, the Machynys Peninsula Golf and Country Club and Sandy Water Park, a peaceful nature watching spot brimming with birdlife.

What customers say

This is a highly recommended, peaceful campsite with stunning views over the estuary and towards the Gower Peninsula. Visitors consistently praise the spotlessly clean, modern toilet and shower facilities. Pitches are generally spacious and level, with ample room between units. The site is well-maintained, and owners are frequently described as friendly, helpful, and welcoming. It's considered a great base for exploring the local area and beaches, with good access to cycle routes. While some mention limited facilities or potential for queues at busy times, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many planning return visits.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Panoramic view of LLanelli and the bay beyond it.
Entire site has plenty of room and is fairly flat.

Disliked Wash basins in toilet/shower block too small.
Maintenance work on supply pipes under the drinking water stand pipe has created mud pit full of water, which is beginning to smell. Work needs to be finished and the pit filled. Is a drain for run off water from the stand pipe needed, rather than relying on soak away through the soil?

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Good size hard standing pitches, concrete with gravel next to it. Toilet block was very clean and modern enough. Other campers stuck well to ventilating the showers with cones which meant they were humid/stuffy. Loved the washing up liquid and sponges at the sink, nice touch. Nice easy drive in following directions given. Beautiful view. Lots of sunshine on the field (lower down the field gets best sunshine)

Disliked There was a tent patch on the grass between the hard standing pitches, which would indicate during busy periods a tent could be there, which would remove the spacious luxurios feel.

Local attractions

Exploring the Llanelli area is perhaps best done by bike – you can pedal up to the peaceful Lliedi Reservoirs (15 minutes' cycle) for a picnic before heading back to base, or make a day of it and continue on to the National Botanic Garden of Wales (an hour and 30 minutes by bike or half an hour by car), where those arriving on two wheels get a discount on the price of entry. Next, you might like to stretch your legs by heading to the Brecon Beacons (from 30 minutes' drive) – make sure to pack sensibly sturdy footwear if your plans involve top treks like the Ystradfellte Four Waterfalls Walk (an hour) or hikes around Carreg Cennen Castle (45 minutes). The national park is also home to less energetic attractions like the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (50 minutes) and the Brecon Mountain Railway (an hour). Yet another option would be to take a driving tour of the gorgeous Gower Peninsula (from 30 minutes) to soak up some of South Wales' best seascapes. The sweeping sands of Rhossili Bay (50 minutes) will probably be part of most itineraries, but for something a little different you could also head to the Swansea side of the peninsula for jetski safaris around Oxwich Bay (40 minutes).
