General

  • Small wildlife haven site set around a large pond
  • Within walking distance of many attractions including Heatherton
  • Modern toilet and shower block

What a peaceful place... Pembrokeshire's Carn Springs in a wildlife haven near the coast at Tenby is set in mature grounds with a central lake making up a natural habitat for many species of birds, waterfowl and other critters: rest relaxedly here around the campfire to see swallows and bats flitting overhead as dusk falls…

This is a site for switching off at, whether you want to lie back and think of nature spotting, read, paint, or visit the many traditional towns and villages nearby. When/if you want to switch on again, Heatherton World of Activities, Manor House Wildlife Park and Tenby Dinosaur Park are all within walking distance and the harbour village of Saundersfoot is a short drive away.

Carn Springs has geese, guinea fowl, chicken and ducks so free-range eggs are often available. Its modern toilet and shower block has large showers and hot running water; the site also has a washing-up area and chemical disposal.

Price - nearly 30 pound per night for very basic features.
No shop, wifi or phone signal.
    Basic motor home facilities.
Chemical toilet disposal was over an open sewer (covered by a few planks)
charged for our dog, yet no dog walking facilitiesjust felt very basic and amateurish.
    One up from wild camping.

Needed somewhere quiet to relax and revise for an exam coming up. Carn Springs ticked all the boxes. Yes you have the sound of the birds/ducks all day long but you soon forget about them. Pitched up overlooking the small lake, it couldn't have got better. Clean site with hot water on tap. Will definitely be coming back but this time for a longer break.

    Disliked:

Slight smell coming from the waste water drain area near the toilets.

Very warm welcome from Linda and Richard and a lovely situated pitch overlooking the lake. Quiet site with hot showers, toilet and washing up facilities which were all spotless. Liked the setup in the shower block with each cubicle having your own shower, washbasin and toilet. Loved the evening visit by Linda with skewered marshmallows 😃 Thoroughly enjoyed out stay!

    Disliked:

Not really a dislike, but the site is all grass with no hard standing pitches which was an issue with the really heavy rain that had fallen, the ground was soaking. Linda did her best by placing us on a better part of the site but after the first night the awning did resemble a mud bath!! Once the weather cleared later in the day, the ground did dry up a bit and made life a lot easier and didn't deter from our enjoyment of our stay.

Enjoyed the views of the pond and the sunsets. Able to have camp fires! Friendly/ accommodating owners. It Was quiet. Not far to Tenby and saundersfoot. Not too busy.

    Disliked:

Some of the showers didn't have a curtain or shower basin, inside the individual bathroom.

Brilliant from start to finish. Lovely warm welcome on arrival with complimentary Welsh cakes which was a nice touch. Campsite was small but pretty with loads of room per pitch. No problems with noise. The washrooms were the best I've come across camping, decent hot showers which were essential post ironman! Was a ten minute drive into Tenby centre.
