General

  • Small wildlife haven site set around a large pond
  • Within walking distance of many attractions including Heatherton
  • Modern toilet and shower block

What a peaceful place... Pembrokeshire's Carn Springs in a wildlife haven near the coast at Tenby is set in mature grounds with a central lake making up a natural habitat for many species of birds, waterfowl and other critters: rest relaxedly here around the campfire to see swallows and bats flitting overhead as dusk falls…

This is a site for switching off at, whether you want to lie back and think of nature spotting, read, paint, or visit the many traditional towns and villages nearby. When/if you want to switch on again, Heatherton World of Activities, Manor House Wildlife Park and Tenby Dinosaur Park are all within walking distance and the harbour village of Saundersfoot is a short drive away.

Carn Springs has geese, guinea fowl, chicken and ducks so free-range eggs are often available. Its modern toilet and shower block has large showers and hot running water; the site also has a washing-up area and chemical disposal.

Please note

Facilities/activities including fishing are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

Swimming in the lake is not permitted.

A choice, quiet site, clean functional facilities & genial hosts/staff 23/07/2017

My wife and I arranged a 10 night stay in our touring caravan at this site and were accompanied by friends who stayed for 7 nights also with a caravan. Site was easily found and approached by good road access. Upon our arrival, site owner Lynda, presented us with packs of "Welsh Cakes" which, hitherto, we'd never tried before but proved to be a very tasty refreshment. We were allocated a prime, level grass pitch alongside our friends on the West bank of the lake which proved idyllic. The rustic allure of this site evident in photographs accompanying the reviews perused prior to our booking are no exaggeration, accordingly we were well pleased with our choice.
The site owners Lynda and Richard were a delight, working tirelessly, making their clients stay both enjoyable and memorable. Fire Pits (Similar to a brazier) c/w logs and fire lighters could be hired which, to us was a unique touch and provided welcome warmth when sitting outside in the twilight. This heat source was useful for the toasting of marshmallows provided by Lynda each evening - another unique touch.
There are 2 toilet/shower/dishwashing buildings on site both of which were clean, functional and perfectly adequate for camper numbers when we were there. I, personally never had to wait to use these facilities. The weather was warm during our stay so heating of these premises was unnecessary however in the event of cold weather I'm not sure that the available heating would cope.
The lake is the focal point of the site and provides a splendid outlook for campers as well as an abundance of wild life in and around it.
This is a developing site with great potential. Whilst it does not display the manicured perfection of some Caravan Club sites it has a quiet charm all of its own affording a most relaxing holiday. To Lynda and Richard - we all arrive at Carn Springs as strangers but leave as good friends. Thank you.

    Disliked:

There is no Wifi although this was overcome by visits to Coffee Shops with free wifi.
Not all pitches are level - the ground is upward sloping on the East side of the lake. However, the slightly elevated position may be a bonus with regard to lake views.

If you'd like to stay on a site where the owners have a vision and passion for making their site the perfect place to stay then look no further. Richard and Linda are a lovely couple where nothing is too much trouble and the personal touch is at the core of what they do. The site is a wonderful setting and the facilities get better and better each time we visit. It's located within easy reach of Tenby and is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful county of Pembrokeshire. Can't wait to visit again

Was made to feel welcome from driving in and being greeted by Richard on his mower and given some Welsh cakes and shown to our area/pitch.
We had noticed on other reviews about fire pit it's a must !!£10 for your stay inc a bag of kindling and logs if you run out £5 gets you another bag!! Great for all you pyromaniacs.
Lynda pops around every night with marshmallows what a great touch and a quick chat .
The new toilet block is fantastic does everything you need and very clean, even toilet paper and hand wash.
We had our dog with us and was plenty of room to walk her , there is no poo bin so need to take it away with you, it's better then having a stinky bin on site in my opinion.
If you want a nice quiet place to stay you won't be disappointed
5 mins drive from Tenby town centre.

Friendly owners, wood fires and a toilet block you would be proud of at home. Met with a warm welcome and some welsh cakes to enjoy after the drive. All the pitches are around the lake in the middle which gives a really nice environment. The toilet blocks instead of being the typical male/female arrangement are instead arranged into washrooms with a shower, toilet and sink. This is great for couples and families!
Lynda the owner even comes round in the evening with marshmallows on sticks for everyone to roast on their fires. What't not to love! we will definitely be returning.

    Disliked:

The washroom doors have hooks on the inside to lock them which means you can't tell if they are occupied when you are outside. This results in people trying to get in when you're undressed. A simple sign stating 'please leave doors open when unoccupied' or a sign to change as you go in would sort this out!

We stayed at Carn Springs from the 16th-23rd July and it was by far one of the most friendly, homely, and gorgeous sites we've ever visited.

On arrival, we were met with open arms and made to feel completely welcome. Lynda greeted us and gave us a lovely introduction to the site where we were then shown to our prospective home for the week. Every effort was made to make sure we were comfortable with where we would be staying, having been given multiple options when in reality any location around the lake would've been perfect.

We set up near the rubber dingy (with our fantastic gift of Welsh cakes) and had the most fantastic week. There was plenty to do within driving distance (Tenby, Freshwater West, and Pembroke Castle were some of our visited places), though if you wanted to relax with the view you could always do that.

Each evening Lynda would pop around with some marshmallows to see if you were okay or had any problems which added a fantastic personal touch. The firewood was only £5 a bag with the option of some kindling.

There were zero complaints with the bathrooms or washing up area. Each shower room had a toilet and sink and plenty of room to get organised and ready. They were some of the nicest, best-kept campsite toilets we'd used. The washing up area was also clean and tidy.

To conclude, the stay at Carn Springs was outstanding. It was relaxing, enjoyable, and a home away from home. We didn't want to leave and would come back in an instant! Thanks to Lynda and Richard we had the best time. With the stunning view, excellent animal personalities (the farm animals and, of course, Keith the Duck), and out-of-this-world service, we'd have no hesitation in booking again.

Carn Springs is a beautiful site for nature, and very well thought out and cared for. We saw little grebe chicks and lots of finch families. We loved the site and the host Lynda was lovely, always happy to see you and the treat of Welsh cakes when we got there was a welcome bonus. We will definitely go back to this wonderful place which is well located for exploring Pembrokeshire.
