  • Family-run site situated on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path
  • Direct access to Porthsele beach; a mile from Whitesands
  • Farm shop, coffee hut, bar and pizzas available in high season
Fancy a stay on a family-run farm… with direct access to a beach below? Make your way to Pencarnan Farm Caravan and Camping Site, a 96-acre farm overlooking Porthsele beach on the Pembrokeshire coast. The site is on the most western tip of Pembrokeshire, with views of St Georges Channel connecting the Irish and Celtic seas. You'll be in good company with a stay here: generations of the same family have been running the site since the mid-1950s, a holiday spot for guests who return year after year – some with their kids and grandkids now in tow. This place is just the ticket for outdoor adventures too, as it's set directly above Porthsele beach (with private vehicle access so you can cart all your kit along with you). The sea and bay are safe for swimming and kayaking, and there are plenty of rockpools to explore at low tide. If you haven’t got your fill of sea breeze, surfing beach Whitesands is a one-mile walk along the coastal path or, if you’re feeling adventurous, a half-mile swim or kayak from Porthsele. Sorting supplies is easy at the farm too: in the high season, a site shop is on hand with camping and food supplies, wetsuits and logs for beach fires, and a coffee hut opens every day. A bar and pizzas are also available at peak times.

3-amp Carn Llidi View electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Gorgeous site with an amazing beach and bay area bellow. Views from the site are lovely. Good coastal walking routes all around. Very nicely set up with shop bar cafe and pizzas available at various times of day. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Shower and toilet blocks were good with hot running water and a few extra bits like toiletries and hair driers etc.
Well spaced out - didn't feel crowded at all.
Would definitely go back again if in the area.

3-amp Carn Llidi View electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked We stayed on the Carn Llidi View, electric grass tent pitch. Views were awesome!
And the sunsets…wow.
Facilities were very good. Beats any bathrooms I've used at campsites previously.
Staff - all friendly
The court yard is great. Fresh pizzas were very tasty, plus the bar, coffee shop & shop were good, not to mention those fresh cakes! Yum
The private beach & walks were an added bonus.
All in all, i would totally recommend this site. We will return.

Disliked Wifi not great at the tent but glad to have the peace really, it was ok in the court yard though.
Apart from that- no complaints.

3-amp Carn Llidi View electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked View.
Courtyard with cafe/pizza/bar.

Disliked Not enough basic facilities.
On a hill - difficult to shore up van.
Only 3amp on electric.
Will not be returning.

From the manager: It does state when you made your booking that the site you booked was a 3amp electric pitch. We are a coastal site and piches with views are closer to the cliffs and therefore on a slope. It seems to me that you are not used to camping in Britain and if you can't level your camper van, buy a tent!

Local attractions

This is heaven for beach buffs: Porthsele and Whitesands beaches are both within walking distance of Pencarnan. At Porthsele, take your pick from kayaking, surfing and paddleboarding from its sandy shore; if fishing's more your bag you can fish for mackerel, pollock and seabass from the beach and from certain points on the cliff around Pencarnan's land. There are also a few marked climbing spots around the cliffs on the land and some good entry points for coasteering or a coastal swim back to Porthsele beach… followed back at base with a sunset beach fire or barbecue to end the day. The famed surfing centre of Whitesands, a mile away on the coast path from Pencarnan, has a café, deckchairs and wetsuit hire, plus lifeguards in the summer months. Heading south, St Justinian’s (under a mile away along the coast path) is home to RNLI St Davids Lifeboat Station and a departure point for boat trips around, onto and beyond Ramsey Island to spy seals, seabirds, porpoises, whales, dolphins and sharks. Make time too for a trip to the tiny city of St Davids, to browse its shops and galleries and take a look at sixth-century St Davids Cathedral.
