  • Hilltop meadow glamping with sea views near Swansea in Glamorgan
  • Half an hour’s drive to Swansea, 35 minutes to Gower Peninsula beaches
  • Walks and bike rides from site; shops and pubs five minutes’ drive
Set in the grounds of a working livestock farm, Panoramic Camping and Glamping has a small number of spacious pitches in a six-acre hilltop meadow with wondrous views over Glamorgan hills to the sea. Completely off the grid, the site uses solar energy. The owners have been running the farm since 2007, and as well as a few friendly hens, you’re likely to see cattle and a flock of Llanwenog sheep grazing when you are out and about on site. And that’s not all – if you’re lucky, you might also see a gorgeous sunset or two over the Loughor Estuary. Located in a convenient but peaceful spot near Swansea that gives easy access to the M4 – handy when you’re planning day trips – you can head for the beaches of the Gower Peninsula or test your mettle with climbs in the Brecon Beacons National Park. You don’t even need to get in the car – there are plenty of rambling opportunities straight from the glamping field, so setting off on your own biking or hiking adventures is a breeze. Forgotten something? No problem, there are handy stores in the local villages of Pontlliw (five minutes’ drive) and Pontarddulais (10 minutes) – and guess what? There are pubs there too.

Forget Me Not 1 bedroom safari tent (six person)

Liked We had an absolutely incredible experience staying here — highly, highly recommended. Everything is cared for down to the smallest detail. We stayed in the Forget Me Knots tent, and honestly, it had absolutely everything you could possibly need for camping. You basically only need to bring your clothes and towels! From a first aid kit to charcoal, tin openers and all the little essentials you never think about — everything was there.

The only thing I’d maybe recommend bringing is some extra firewood if you want to fully enjoy the fire pit in the evenings. Apart from that, everything was simply perfect.

The beds were unbelievably comfortable, the views were stunning, and the hosts were incredibly welcoming and thoughtful. We visited during the heatwave this week in May, and it genuinely felt like a dream. The location is also amazing, very close to beautiful lakes, waterfalls and incredible places to explore.

And to make the whole experience even more special, there were cows right next to our tent, which made the countryside atmosphere feel completely unmatched. Waking up surrounded by nature like that was honestly magical.

Without a doubt one of the best campsites we’ve ever stayed at in our lives. Perfect for families too. Five stars — honestly, we’re lost for words. We will definitely be coming back!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked We stayed for 4 nights in May and loved everything about our stay. The facilities were clean and tidy and showers lovely and warm. The showers are un adjustable and fixed to a comfortable temperature - although with the heat during our stay, it would have been nice to be able to alter this to cool us down. The individual fridges for each pitch allowed us to safely store food and cold drinks during a 30 degree heatwave. There was also access to plugs to charge any phones or electronic devices. Each pitch is spacious with a covered seating and cooking area, and a fire pit with wood available from the farm at a small cost. The views are to die for and the pictures don’t do it any justice. The park and green space for ball games meant the kids were entertained throughout our trip and made some friends too. Overall a brilliant stay and we will definitely be returning in the future.

Disliked Nothing. This site has everything you need for a relaxing camping trip.

Peony 1 bedroom safari tent (six person)

Liked Love the park and trampoline. Kids have a great time.
View was my nice and proximal to national park in walking distance. Lovely sheep around the site
The water heater was not working in one of night but managed to fix in the next day morning

Disliked The ethanol heater can only work for 3-4 hours and not heat up too much. Nothing wrong. Just shouldn't expect too much to it.

Thankfully blanket is enough to keep us warm

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked This camp site is amazing. Plenty of room per pitch with your own wooden shelter and fire pit. Toilets and showers are lovely and clean (especially love the sanitary products provided)
It was all self check in and self catering which we loved. It felt very private and safe. And the views are unmatched! This place is a perfect in-between of wild camping and glamping

Local attractions

Active types get out and about hiking and cycling in the Brecon Beacons National Park (40 minutes’ drive), and kayaking or following the sculpture trail at Lower Lliw Reservoir. Keen anglers bunker down for an afternoon’s carp fishing near Pontarddulais, and golfers can hone their handicap on the course close by (all 10 minutes’ drive). You might like to combine history and a jolly good stretch of the legs walking up to Carn Llechart Stone Circle and Cairn (half an hour), the biggest Bronze Age circle in Wales. Wildlife more your thing? Head to the WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre (25 minutes) to spot flamingoes and geese, or spend the day looking for rare butterflies, lizards or otters at the National Botanic Garden of Wales (half an hour). If the kids are demanding days at the seaside, head to the coast for fun-filled days on the sandy Gower Peninsula beaches (35 minutes). This being south Wales, you might need a rainy day option, so if the weather should turn on you, take off to the family-friendly and interactive National Waterfront Museum in Swansea (half an hour) and reward good behaviour with a go on the slides at neighbouring LC Waterpark.
