Panoramic Camping and Glamping: View to the sea from the site

General

  • Hilltop meadow glamping with sea views near Swansea in Glamorgan
  • Half an hour’s drive to Swansea, 35 minutes to Gower Peninsula beaches
  • Walks and bike rides from site; shops and pubs five minutes’ drive

Set in the grounds of a working livestock farm, Panoramic Camping and Glamping has a small number of spacious pitches in a six-acre hilltop meadow with wondrous views over Glamorgan hills to the sea.

The owners have been running the farm since 2007 and as well as a few friendly hens, you’re likely to see cattle and a flock of Llanwenog sheep grazing when you are out and about on site. And that’s not all – if you’re lucky you might also see a gorgeous sunset or two over the Loughor Estuary.

Located in a convenient but peaceful spot near Swansea that gives easy access to the M4 – handy when you’re planning day trips – you can head for the beaches of the Gower Peninsula or test your mettle with climbs in the Brecon Beacons National Park.

You don’t even need to get in the car – there are plenty of rambling opportunities straight from the glamping field, so setting off on your own biking or hiking adventures is a breeze.

Forgotten something? No problem, there are handy stores in the local villages of Pontlliw (five minutes’ drive) and Pontarddulais (10 minutes) – and guess what? There are pubs there too.

What wasn’t to like the accommodation is Phenomenal spacious and more than just an average camp site and the owners have thought of everything you even have a fridge to put your food in so you don’t have to worry about it going off in a cooler box !!
The farm is gorgeous and it’s got the most amazing views the drive into the village is very short and you have everything within a 10 minuet drive.
The owners where there when we needed them our daughter came down I’ll whilst away and they couldn’t help us enough we are so greatful
There is a park for the children with a storage box of toys and a sand pit.
What isn’t to like about this camp site we will be returning in the summer and be recommending to everyone we know.

The campsite was beautiful, clean and chilled. All the facilities were ideal, and the owners were especially friendly and welcoming. I also massively liked your car free policy to encourage kids to have a safe place to play. Safe to say the campsite massively exceeded our expectations. We will certainly return one day.

We stayed in the Primrose bell tent with our two children and were really impressed with the work the owners had put into developing the site. A lot of thought has clearly gone into the equipment and facilities provided, and the kids loved the play park!

    Disliked:

The wind was really chilly on our second night, so I'd suggest taking layers for the evenings - this is by no means a complaint and would not stop us from visiting again or recommending to others!

Great facilities, I enjoyed the camp fire facilities as well as the little picnic huts. The kids enjoyed seeing the cows and playing on the play park.

    Disliked:

The sat nav took us to the turning before the camp site, a sign near there would be useful, also I would advise to approach the camp site from the south otherwise you will be doing a 160 degree turn with a pretty severe slope on one side (scary).

This campsite was phenomenal. They have spent an absolute fortune making this campsite perfect. Some of the highpoints include:
    - The view
    - The size of each pitch
    - The kitchen area that every pitch is provided with
    - The firepit that all pitches get
    - Very powerful showers
    - Clean toilets, washing up and shower area
    - Location
    - The friendliness of the owners
    - How quiet it is (except the cows... moo!)

    Disliked:

I can't think of anything we disliked.

A couple of operational things to be aware of that aren't related to the campsite:
    - It does catch the wind a bit being on top of a hill so bring layers (this was only a problem on one night of three)
    - When you follow the satnav, put the name of the farm in, not the post code.
    - It's only open for the summer holidays. Please open longer next year!!

Will was really friendly and helpful during our stay. Nothing was too much bother and he was available if we needed him. He delivered us fresh eggs one morning, which was a real treat.
The tent was well equipped, comfy beds, lots of pillows, blankets and a comfy sofa. Lighting, power bank, tea and coffee, and plenty of space.
    Fire pit and BBQ provided.
The kitchen had everything we needed from knives, pans, utensils, cutlery, gas hob, washing up equipment etc. the recycling bins were great. We normally have to take our recycling home with us, but there’s even a compost bin at the washing up station. There’s a fridge in a room for every pitch. This is so handy and very rare for a campsite.
Our children (ages 5 and 2) loved the play equipment and it was a great way for them to socialise while we relaxed.
Lots of thought has gone into this campsite, it’s been really nicely done and still in its infancy stages.

Thank you for a great stay! We will definitely be back and be recommending.

Local attractions

Active types get out and about hiking and cycling in the Brecon Beacons National Park (40 minutes’ drive), and kayaking or following the sculpture trail at Lower Lliw Reservoir. Keen anglers bunker down for an afternoon’s carp fishing near Pontarddulais, and golfers can hone their handicap on the course close by (all 10 minutes’ drive).

You might like to combine history and a jolly good stretch of the legs walking up to Carn Llechart Stone Circle and Cairn (half an hour), the biggest Bronze Age circle in Wales. Wildlife more your thing? Head to the WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre (25 minutes) to spot flamingoes and geese, or spend the day looking for rare butterflies, lizards or otters at the National Botanic Garden of Wales (half an hour).

If the kids are demanding days at the seaside, head to the coast for fun-filled days on the sandy Gower Peninsula beaches (35 minutes). This being south Wales, you might need a rainy day option, so if the weather should turn on you, take off to the family-friendly and interactive National Waterfront Museum in Swansea (half an hour) and reward good behaviour with a go on the slides at neighbouring LC Waterpark.

Must see

  • National Wetland Centre Wales (10.5 kilometres)
  • National Waterfront Museum (11.5 kilometres)
  • Carreg Cennen Castle (14.4 kilometres)
