Loved it! Owners are very nice :). Tent itself was clean, spacious, had a comfy bed and everything you need (like a gas bbq, utensils, even a small toilet for the night). Outside room was plenty, our daughters loved it to.
Such a shame the weather wasn't that great, otherwise we would have loved to explore the land of the owners!
We'll put this on our list of places we want to visit again!

    Disliked:

    The rain, haha ;).

Felt so remote yet really close to local attractions (15/20 mins from national botanical garden) with beautiful views of the hills.
Louisa and family were lovely very welcoming and helpful. We loved that we could have a fire and it wasn't a super busy campsite which for us is great!

    -Free space to pitch wherever
-Could put a fire/ BBQ whereever
    -Great views
    -Friendly animals

    Disliked:

    -It's just a field.
-Asked if there was a shower and was told no, until they came back later and said it was extra cost.
-Mentioned that we were lucky to be able to use there toilet.
-They had to keep mentioning that safety things were for insurance purposes.
-Nothing to do as it just a field.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review, we are sorry your stay with us was not what you were expecting.

We are a working farm where you can pitch your tent to enjoy the space and countryside, wild camping style. As such we don't offer a utility block, but breaking away from the wild camping, there is a flush toilet for campers use.

At the moment there isn't a shower for campers, but we do have a gas shower we set up for tent rentals, as you enquired about a shower, and the the tent wasn't booked, we thought we would offer you the use of it, the additional charge was to cover setting it up.

Whilst camping with us, we invite you to wonder over the land, 100+ acres, of farmland, woods, streams and the river Afon Dulas, which we share with bold foxes, secretive badgers, red kites, buzzards and other wildlife. At night, sit around your camp-fire, watching bats and then stars in the dark night skies.

As responsible hosts, we want all of our guests to enjoy their stay, so we ask that you be aware and act responsible, not informing you would invalidate the liability insurance.

Regards The Shearers Retreat.

The hosts and their lovely animals are all so friendly and welcoming. All our requests were met with a smile. The site itself is stunning with the peace and tranquillity and gorgeous views over the valley. The tent is so great too! Super comfy bed and all you need for a perfect camping experience. The outdoor shower was truly refreshing. The area itself offers so much things to do, adventures to be had, we have to come back for more. Great for all interests. The deer park and mansion just 10 minutes away is a must see. There is even a castle. We truly recommend this place. It is a true gem.

    Disliked:

It's not really a dislike...but we would have loved some fairy lights with a warm glow to them as they just give that little extra atmosphere...

From the manager...

Thank you for the lovely review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us, and look forward to your next visit, down by the river. Will look into getting some fairy lights!

Turn left at the old chapel and after about a mile, turn down the farm track marked by a New Zealand flag and drive up to the white house on the right.

If approaching from Llandeilo, turn right off the A40 (just after the Cottage Inn). Follow the road on the left over the stone bridge. Take the first left and soon after, beside the old chapel take the right turn. After about a mile, turn down the farm track marked by a New Zealand flag and drive up to the white house on the right.
