  • Five-acre family-friendly site overlooking the vale of Llangollen
  • Five-minute drive to Llangollen town and 40 to Snowdonia National Park
  • Restaurant, bar and playground on site
Seeking a scenic setting close to the countryside for dawdles around Denbighshire…? Then set your sights on a stay at Abbey Grange Campsite, on a five-acre site in front of The Abbey Grange Hotel and overlooking the pretty Vale of Llangollen. Surrounded by fields and mountains, this park is half a mile from the well-known Horseshoe Pass and is a convenient base for exploring the immediate hilly surrounds or taking on treks in Snowdonia National Park (a 40-minute drive). Chances to climb, cycle, mountain bike, fish and golf are also around the local area – just ask on site for the lowdown. At the park, charging facilities are on hand for ensuring your GPS has enough batteries for when you’re out and about exploring the region, whether shopping in Llangollen, five minutes’ drive away, for food to bring back and grill up on the barbecue or ambling to the Cistercian Valley Crucis Abbey (less than a 10-minute walk). On your homecoming from hikes or other similarly energetic activities, hotel facilities such as the restaurant and bar are accessible for cosying up with a pint or a meal, and there's an outdoor play area to keep the kids busy. The site has male and female shower and toilet amenities, plus chemical disposal facilities.

What customers say

This site offers a good location with beautiful views and a short walk to Llangollen. Guests appreciated the spacious pitches, on-site pub, and children's play area. However, numerous reviews highlight significant concerns regarding the cleanliness and outdated state of toilet and shower facilities, with some experiencing issues with water supply. Several guests found the site to be expensive for the quality of amenities provided and noted noise from a nearby road and occasional un-enforced site rules.

Non-electric grass pitch

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Somewhere to sleep for the night

Disliked Absolutely terrible place I wouldn't recommend it in the slightest.

Two fields consisting of probably 50+ people and there's 4 toilets with showers inside go round for everyone and they were disgusting.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked The surroundings. It was beautiful to wake up to a lovely view.
Park for the children and space for them to run.

Disliked The road is relatively busy and can be extremely loud even in the night as drivers tend to go a bit quick down it.
Toilet and shower facilities definitely need an upgrade.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Beautiful scenery, bar staff lovely and very hard working, kids loved the huge play area, very close to the gorgeous town of Llangollen

Disliked Advertised as family-friendly but a very large group thought it was their own private festival and made as much noise as they could day and night and were very rude when asked to keep it down. Kids tearing about on a loud quad bike which meant it was unsafe for our kids to play on the field and they left rubbish everywhere when they left.

No staff about other than the bar staff who were too stressed to actually be able to help in any way. After speaking to other the site has a reputation for loud groups who think camping is just a big pi#% up and nothing else.

Toilets desperately needed an upgrade though we used the pub ones where possible.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Field 2 with electric nice and quiet
Close to llangollen
Showers nice and hot (if you timed it right when you went, either early morning or, afternoon or late at night)
Pub was a nice change to have on site too

Disliked 4 cubicles each with toilet, shower and sink
For a bank holiday weekend and the amount of people there, toilet roll
Soon ran out.
If they added a block just for another 6-10 toilets be perfect place 👍
