General

  • Five-acre site overlooking the Vale of Llangollen
  • Only half a mile from the beautiful Horseshoe Pass
  • An ideal location from which to visit Snowdonia National Park

Abbey Grange Campsite is at the front of The Abbey Grange Hotel and the five-acre site overlooks the Vale of Llangollen.

Surrounded by fields and mountains, the campsite is only 2 miles from the historic market town of Llangollen and half a mile from the beautiful Horseshoe Pass. It provides an ideal location from which to explore the immediate surrounding hills and mountains and also for visiting Snowdonia National Park and the north Wales coast.

Locally at Llangollen, there are horse-drawn canal barges and classic steam railway as well as many outdoor activities such as canoeing, rafting and climbing. The campsite has male and female showers and toilet facilities.

Campers are also welcome to use the hotel facilities such as the restaurant, bar and games room, as well as the outdoor play area.

Very disappointed with customer care, 1 bar/waiting on staff on by herself and very rude to customers; hiding in the back, pulling faces when on a phone to a customer (witnessed whilst waiting for our food), attitude appalling. Unfortunately we had to leave 2 nights early due to the friend I was staying with had to be rushed to hospital. When asked about if there was any way of having a refund due to no policies to show whether you can or not, ended up having a phone call to 3 different people from the hotel who are all none the wiser on whether we can be refunded or not.1 also tried to push the blame to pitch up themselves, however, after speaking to pitch up, this is not the case and that the hotel are the ones who are meant to refund. 1 also claimed they were the manager/owner but if they were correct then surely they should know about refund policies etc? Even emailed through pitchup.com to the hotel 2 weeks ago and still haven't got back to me. Such a shame that we experienced these issues as liked the campsite set up but we will definitely not be going back there again.

Great little site, quiet and beautiful surroundings. The kids loved getting back to basics and actually playing not sitting on iPads/computers. Lots to do in the local area and local amenities make it helpful to get daily essentials. Great value for money!

    Disliked:

Not so much a dislike but no hot running water in the wash up area.

Like other reviews didn’t find a good welcome on arrival. Got the third degree of who we booked with then told we were not on list but we were when we found out what website we booked on,on the same page couldn’t be bothered to assist. Left to our own devices to find things tho two female toilets and a small not so clean shower were not hard to find. On the positive the play area for kids was welcoming and the pub on site gave a refuge from the rain. Camping in the rain always dampens your enthusiasm but music off a 12 no way people were still partying till the small hours. Not able to enjoy the area cos of the weather but not a bad visit.

    Disliked:

Only two female toilets one sink sloped ground and noise into the early hours.
