Abbey Grange Campsite: The pitching field

General

  • Five-acre site overlooking the Vale of Llangollen
  • Only half a mile from the beautiful Horseshoe Pass
  • An ideal location from which to visit Snowdonia National Park

Seeking a scenic setting close to the countryside for dawdles around Denbighshire…? Then set your sights on a stay at Abbey Grange Campsite, on a five-acre site in front of The Abbey Grange Hotel and overlooking the pretty Vale of Llangollen.

Surrounded by fields and mountains, this park is half a mile from the well-known Horseshoe Pass and is a convenient base for exploring the immediate hilly surrounds or taking on treks in Snowdonia National Park (a 40-minute drive). Chances to climb, cycle, mountain bike, fish and golf are also around the local area – just ask on site for the lowdown.

At the park, charging facilities are on hand for ensuring your GPS has enough batteries for when you’re out and about exploring the region, whether shopping in Llangollen five minutes’ drive away for food to bring back and grill up on the barbecue or ambling to the Cistercian Valley Crucis Abbey less than a 10-minute walk.

On your homecoming from hikes or other similarly energetic activities, hotel facilities such as the restaurant and bar are accessible for cosying up with a pint or a meal and an outdoor play area plus indoor games room are here for the kids to conquer as well.

The site has male and female shower and toilet amenities, newly updated for the 2019 season, plus chemical disposal facilities.

Where do I start !! The views, the field, the thought over the pitch I was given,The pub at the top,the owner and staff ..EVERYTHING !!!
I was really nervous about going as had some terrible reviews and as I take my daughter with mental health issues I was worried. But Steve the owner was lovely, welcomed me at the pub and spent time chatting as I don't have company otherwise.Laura the site manager had made sure my pitch was everything I needed with space for my daughter ( who doesn't really like people ) to have a quite time in the caravan when she wanted. The toilet block although basic was cleaned constantly and a credit to the lady who was doing it as the site was full. The field was cut even after the horrible weather and drained well so you could play games of tennis etc on the night.Everyone was well spaced out with lots of room to set up bbqs and awnings etc The views you woke up to were stunning, surrounded by mountains that could all be walked from the site,if you like hills ! Plenty of places to visit within an easy drive from the site so definitely a place I will return too in the future.I felt safe and extremely relaxed there to the point I could of cried about coming home x

    Disliked:

Sat Nav tells you to turn before site entrance, approach with caution or you will go down a horrible narrow road that turns in to more a track otherwise.
You can see its a site in progress and the waste area needs improvement but that will come in time.

Dispite their cosmetic appearance the shower units where extremely practical. Nice hot temperature and good pressure. Private toilet/washrooms. If you can get over the fact that there are an old construction site office turned into washrooms.

Field 1 is great for the kids to run around in

    Waste facilities fine
