General

  • Five-acre site overlooking the Vale of Llangollen
  • Only half a mile from the beautiful Horseshoe Pass
  • An ideal location from which to visit Snowdonia National Park

Abbey Grange Campsite is at the front of The Abbey Grange Hotel and the five-acre site overlooks the Vale of Llangollen.

Surrounded by fields and mountains, the campsite is only 2 miles from the historic market town of Llangollen and half a mile from the beautiful Horseshoe Pass. It provides an ideal location from which to explore the immediate surrounding hills and mountains and also for visiting Snowdonia National Park and the north Wales coast.

Locally at Llangollen, there are horse-drawn canal barges and classic steam railway as well as many outdoor activities such as canoeing, rafting and climbing. The campsite has male and female showers and toilet facilities.

Campers are also welcome to use the hotel facilities such as the restaurant, bar and games room, as well as the outdoor play area.

I like the space and surroundings, beautiful views. Two toilet blocks very close by and it was generally very quiet and peaceful.

The pub onsite also has accommodation and serves food/drink daily with a beer garden and children’s play area!

If you cannot be bothered cooking, you can get breakfast for a fiver too!

    Disliked:

If the campsite had been busier, it would have been a struggle to find level ground as the field is on a gradient.

If there was an option for a "0" star then that would be my rating.

Pictures are not a resemblance of the facilities.

    Disliked:

Was really looking forward to camping and exploring the mountains in Llangollen however the campsite was below satisfactory and felt very unsafe, so much so that we didn't stay the night and therefore our trip was cut short.

The campsite is basically an overgrown field in a pub (a pub's back garden), not what appears on the pictures, there was no lights or security and felt very unsafe. I wasn't expecting much for the toilets as it's a camping experience however these were completely unsanitary and again, no lights, extremely dirty etc. The field is overgrown and deserted and does not resemble a camp site. It's the garden of the pub that has a dirty toilet at the end, and being advertised as a camping facility.

We were extremely disappointed, as we didn't feel that it was safe to stay, we left and therefore cut our trip short. We debated staying in the car, which is a shame when you've paid to camp and looking forward to a camping trip, with the following day of walking up the mountains.

I would not recommend this to anyone. There is a lovely campsite a few minutes walk away, which I wish I'd booked. They had 24 hour security, the grass was cut and premises were clean, they were lit up toilets and facilities for water including clean sinks. They also had a camping shop if you needed any extra equipment, and a bistro. I wish we'd have booked this, it wasn't deserted and lots of people were around in pitched up tents and caravans so felt more safe than the one we were at. Also we'd have felt at ease knowing there was 24 hour security on site. Such a shame, as this ruined the weekend (we arrived on Saturday at 5.30pm, and left at 10.30pm that same evening, and travelled home).

This is not a campsite its agrass field attached to a pub. The term hard standing for caravans means prking on the pub car park. 55 Minute wait for scrambbled egg on toast is ridiculass. The pictures of the toilets must have been when they were new because they were never cleand or any toilet paper. There was a sink to wash your pots but no hot water. Bank holiday weakend and "farm shop/"that was never open so cant comment. If you like to wait 15 mins or more to get seved a pint when there is only you at the bar this is the place. Fish and chips served till 10pm but stop serving food at 9pm so all orders have to be in by 8pm, there is a huge contradiction and the fact that they are sooooo slow. Will not go back or recomnd

Nice big field for all tents and caravans, lovely settings, close to town, play area for kids and hotel restaurant available for all.

    Disliked:

Toilet and shower block small, basic and not too clean, needs updating. Food at restaurant took nearly an hour and it was not busy.

Could not find the site, post code is exactly the same as Abbey Farm camp site, many signs on the road for Abbey Farm but non at all for Abbey Grange. Ended up staying at Abbey Farm and loosing our deposit for Abbey Grange. Rang Abbey Grange for assistance and received none. Tried to email to advise of our situation and email address unknown. Abbey Grange pub and restaurant well advertised but nothing for the campsite.
