  • Eco-friendly meadow site next to a river in north Wales
  • A 15-minute drive to Llyn Brenig and 35 minutes from Rhyl
  • Stargazing on site; facilities built from local and recycled resources
It’s a peaceful set-up indeed at Dolwen Riverside Camping, an eco-friendly site alongside a river which feeds into the Afon Ystrad. The location and the set-up are very suited to families (but single-sex groups are not permitted), and as a Greener Camping Club Certified Campsite, the focus here is also very much on the environment; all the eco-friendly facilities have been built using local and recycled resources. Wildflowers sprout in the meadow during the summer months, and birds are regulars too. Woodpeckers, kingfishers and kites are among the flocks to be seen. Take a dip in the river as you please; the spacious meadow pitches are surrounded by peaceful farmland and alongside the river. This North Wales site is family-owned and operated. All pitches have a picnic table and firepit. There are hygienic, well-maintained composting toilets on site, as well as a dual pot wash station and showers. The gorgeous North Wales landscapes, of course, are also part of the equation. World Heritage Sites and excellent mountain ranges and lakes are within driving distance; the north is known as the ‘adventure capital’. It’s also an hour’s drive to Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon); the site can point you towards six paths to the top.

Non-electric grass tent or campervan pitch

Liked: We adored this campsite so much! It could be the perfect site!! We loved the wild grass and moved out pitches so everyone was spread out! Each pitch has its own fire pit area and it’s own picnic bench We loved the little tiles with wildlife on to name each pitch. Gorgeous hot showers and clean toilets ✔️ Dave the owner was so friendly and made us feel very welcome. We loved the stream on the site, perfect for our little one to paddle in

Disliked: That we only had one night there! Can’t wait to come back 😀

Non-electric grass tent or campervan pitch

Liked: Great secluded location next to river. Cannot be more then 8 pitches so quite personable. Land left to grow naturally around pitches which gave it a good feel. Toilets, washing up facilities, showers all great - couldn't ask for anything more.

Disliked: Entrance through the gate slightly precarious but easy fix and not a big deal

From the manager: Thank you we are so pleased you liked it and hope to see you again soon. Entrance to the site has now been widened..
