Entrance to the site

  • Eco-friendly meadow site next to a river in north Wales
  • A 15-minute drive to Llyn Brenig and 35 minutes from Rhyl
  • Stargazing on site; facilities built from local and recycled resources
It’s a peaceful set-up indeed at Dolwen Riverside Camping, an eco-friendly site alongside a river which feeds into the Afon Ystrad. The location and the set-up are very suited to families (but single-sex groups are not permitted), and as a Greener Camping Club Certified Campsite, the focus here is also very much on the environment; all the eco-friendly facilities have been built using local and recycled resources. Wildflowers sprout in the meadow during the summer months, and birds are regulars too. Woodpeckers, kingfishers and kites are among the flocks to be seen. Take a paddle in the river as you please; the spacious meadow pitches are surrounded by peaceful farmland and alongside the river. This North Wales site is family-owned and operated. All pitches have a picnic table and firepit. There are hygienic, well-maintained composting toilets on site, as well as a dual pot wash station and showers. The gorgeous North Wales landscapes, of course, are also part of the equation. World Heritage Sites and excellent mountain ranges and lakes are within driving distance; the north is known as the ‘adventure capital’. It’s also an hour’s drive to Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon); the site can point you towards six paths to the top.

What customers say

Great eco-campsite, peaceful with spacious pitches. Friendly hosts, clean facilities, fire pits & picnic tables. River great for paddling. Some minor facility hiccups fixed. Can be windy, river best for paddling, not swimming. One guest found it pricey with some maintenance issues.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (large)

Liked Really nice, relaxed, quiet location, close to the town and a short drive from the beach. Pitches are really spacious and as there’s only a small amount of pitches, it’s not too busy which was perfect for my 5 year old on his first camping trip. Hosts were friendly and really helpful, Facilities ticked all the boxes too. Would happily stay again for longer next time, thanks

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch (large)

Liked small and peaceful site
spacious flat pitches
facilities clean and well maintained
Friendly owner

Disliked Nothing at all. Due to heatwave there was a fire ban and the stream was bone dry. I will look forward to staying again another time when we can make use of these and enjoy it even more!

Liked Everything. Friendly welcome. Beautiful, remote location. So peaceful. Plenty of space. Although the facilities were basic there was everything you need (showers, toilets, washing up facilities, communal fridge and freezer, charging point, even a little honesty shop, and everything was clean).
