What customers say

This campsite is praised for its excellent riverside location, friendly staff, and good on-site facilities including a cafe and shop. Visitors enjoyed the proximity to water activities and local attractions. However, a significant number of reviews highlight concerns regarding the cleanliness and adequacy of the toilet and shower facilities, with some describing them as dated and insufficient for the number of campers. Occasional issues with noise and overcrowding were also noted.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked The location is excellent, the proximity to the river and the local villages and towns.

Disliked Extremely basic.

The bathrooms are abysmal, not clean, smelly, the paper towels ran out on Saturday morning and were never replaced. Unisex bathrooms have shower curtains, one of the bathrooms has half moon curtains between two showers not even a hard divider.. nowhere to hang anything. Shower curtains don't belong on campsites.

Selected the site specifically for the kayaking, got told we couldn't because the manager wasn't there today.

Sand pit had no sand, one plug for the two washing sinks also had no chain so had to dig it out with knife.

It seems that its run by young teens who don't really care enough.

Really disappointing, will never return.

Non-electric grass and earth campervan pitch

Liked Its potential, facilities could have been good and the location.

Cafe and ice cream on site was a bonus.

Disliked Over crowding of the site, noise, large groups.

Toilets dirty and not enough for the numbers needing to use them.

It was so overwhelming, we left, with no where booked to go to.

Staff we spoke to was very friendly.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked The location was perfect right next to the river.

The staff on the whole were really lovely and friendly.

Disliked The facilities were below par. No toilet roll on one day. The toilets were dirty and the ‘nice’ toilets for the glamping tents were not much better and the showers were not acceptable - nowhere to hang your towels and only a flimsy shower curtain between you and the 100s of people they crammed into the site over the weekend. The water wouldn’t drain after showers so you’re standing in dirty water from other people’s showers even if you’re just going to brush your teeth.

The owner made inappropriate comments - not professional at all.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked A good location with a handy shop and cafe on site. A supermarket a short drive away near a great fish and chips.

Disliked Two gents loos, with one out of order the whole stay. Single basin in the gents. They sometimes open another mixed sex washroom and close the main washrooms. I hope they build a new block.

Non-electric grass and earth campervan pitch

Liked Staff were friendly

Disliked I stayed at this campsite over the bank holiday weekend and was incredibly disappointed. The advertising made it look like a scenic Welsh getaway, but in reality, it was nothing of the sort. Instead of a peaceful retreat, we arrived to find two overcrowded fields crammed with people and placed up against a tired, peeling building, hardly the picturesque setting we’d expected.

Facilities were even worse. The showers were the most unusable I’ve ever experienced: no water pressure whatsoever, to the point where I had to cup water in my hands just to wash. Toilets had no toilet roll, and overall, everything felt neglected and poorly maintained.

Yes, the site is near the river and they offer canoe hire, but that’s about the only redeeming feature. The overall atmosphere and standard of facilities were far below acceptable, and I’d strongly recommend avoiding this site if you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, or enjoyable camping experience.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked location close to Hay, staff friendliness, pop up food trucks, proximity of river for wild swimming and mountains for walks, visible stars, fire and dog friendliness

Disliked showers not working properly, loo roll often out, 9pm quiet was not enforced!

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked Great location, friendly staff and it’s a really nice pitch.

Disliked The toilets and showers aren’t good. They often don’t have toilet roll. They’re dirty and one toilet didn’t even have a seat.

Probably the worst toiletries / showers I’ve seen in a camp site.

Liked Friendly staff couldn't be more helpful, excellent and safe access to the river, decent pitch size and lovely cafe and bar on-site

Disliked No dump point on site, toilets are a little dated and males did become blocked with no flush during stay.

Non-electric grass and earth campervan pitch

Liked Good vibe. Very busy. Felt much more a base for the river activities than a campsite. Expensive for what it was. But good facilities and attentive laid back team on hand.

Disliked Nothing
