River Wye Campsite

A aimé Option to pick our own pitch, beautiful field with Walnut, pear and sweet chestnut trees. On the banks of the River Wye, squirrels running around the grass. Red kites and Buzzards flying so low over the site. Site is very clean, and staff are ever so friendly. 2 lovely pubs within a very short distance. I didn't use the onsite café but it looked very nice.

N'a pas aimé Should imagine at very busy times the facilities are not enough for demand. 2 toilets and 2 showers are defo not enough, and I think they need a re-fit.

A aimé Pitch space, parking by tent, cafe, wash block location, covered benches, access to river & footpaths, proximity to local pub & town, price, friendly & helpful staff.

N'a pas aimé Shower pressure was low.
Toilet paper was very thin, just broke off into pieces.

A aimé Friendly welcome. Access to the river was lovely.

N'a pas aimé The camping fields were very bumpy, it was hard to find a space for our group to pitch.
The toilets were messy, unclean and often had a blocked toilet. The showers were poor and only 1 small hook for belongings.
On one of the food evenings, despite taking our money, they then ran out of food and we had to wait while they popped to the shop to buy more.

A aimé Convenient location for Hay on Wye and Blackberry mountains.
I liked free range pitching without being regimented.
Very friendly staff.
I liked being close to the river.
Some tree cover providing areas of shade.

No view of river or mountains, which the blurb led me to believe

A aimé Plenty of space. Next to river. Interesting places to visit within 20 miles radius. Hot showers.

N'a pas aimé The pitchup website for this campsite does not indicate that the cafe is only open from Thursday to Sunday or that this site has electric ptches also. No plugs in any sink. No seating in shower block to assist with dressing / undressing. Glasbury beach is a pebble beach.

A aimé The pitches were super spacious, and lots of freedom to go where ever we liked. Staff were super friendly and pointed us to everything we needed. The pizzas on the Friday were perfect, and super easy to prepare-order and collect.

N'a pas aimé The facilities were where the campsite was let down. There’s a toilet/shower block near the cafe which was pretty far to where we were told to camp. That block only had two toilets for the ladies and the whole block could do with updating as felt very old and forgotten about. The day two that block was out of order so had to use the toilets in the main house. Unfortunately it was the same story where they needed a really good clean.
