What customers say

This beautiful, natural campsite offers large, well-spaced pitches with stunning riverside views and easy access to the River Wye for water activities. Guests praise the peaceful atmosphere, abundant space, and friendly, helpful owners. Facilities are generally clean and adequate, though some note they are a walk from certain pitches and can be basic. Rubbish disposal and occasional issues with resident dogs were mentioned. Despite these minor points, most guests highly recommend the site for its tranquil, back-to-nature experience.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked The location is beautiful and the pitch sizes are excellent

Disliked The facilities are ok but need more regular cleaning . The distance from the river pitches to the toilets - although we were warned about that

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Beautiful rural and natural site, very peaceful with lovely countryside views, sunsets and wildlife over the river Wye. The owner was very pleasant. Great spot to chill out and walk into Hay on Wye through the fields.

Disliked Unfortunately the owner and her family have several small dogs that are very reactive towards other dogs(this is not a problem in itself). They are sometimes kept in crates at the reception area but when I walked through on two occasions with my dog they were loose and ran towards us barking aggressively. I ended up having to pick my dog up to protect her. It was very intimidating and unpleasant and the family had no control over their dogs. I feel this is unacceptable when it’s their business and they know campers will be walking by with their dogs. It did spoil our visit and makes me reluctant to return, which is a shame as it was otherwise a lovely campsite.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked My friends and I loved this campsite. We were allocated a nice secluded pitch and the owner was very informative and accommodating. We took our paddle boards and were able to launch from the site. Dog friendly whicb was great. Hay is a short drive away from the campsite and well worth visiting.

Disliked To note, they don’t take rubbish at the site so you will need to take it with you and can dispose of it in Hay.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Absolutely loved camping here - a stunning view and stunning location near the river. Took my two young boys for an adventure and did a hike nearby, the proximity to Hay, Brecon and activities around such as hiking and canoeing is brilliant. The family were lovely, we really enjoyed staying here and their hospitality.

Disliked Disappointed but totally understood the ban on campfires, it was really the only downer to our stay - but as I say, understandable given the dryness of the ground - but it could be good to update that on the listing as the ban has been in place for 6 weeks.

Local attractions

Whether you’re a hiker or biker, there should be a trail you fancy somewhere in the local area. Biking trails are plentiful upon Hay Bluff (15 minutes’ drive), or over at The Begwns (20 minutes), which has stunning views over the Brecon Beacons. The Black Mountains (around 20 minutes) are, of course, packed with trails of all sorts, but if you’re looking to cross off the famed Brecon Beacons walk of Pen y Fan (half an hour), it’s pretty easy to reach the big peak too. Activities-wise, you’re by no means limited to hiking and biking. Gorge walking, clay pigeon shooting, archery, caving, climbing and go-karting can be booked with the activity centre five minutes’ drive away. Throw some rowing, windsurfing or paddleboarding into the mix too. Any of these makes an excellent way to experience Llangorse Lake (20 minutes), a glacial lake that has the only crannog (artificial inhabited island) in Wales and England.
