  • Peaceful and green Mid Wales site on the banks of the River Dyfi
  • Dyfi Osprey Project 20 minutes’ drive; Dolgellau 25 minutes
  • Easy access from the A470; pub, shop and café 10 minutes' walk
Countryside views and convenient access all in one location? Parc Bryndyfi makes a fantastic base for a Mid Wales break – this lush green oasis of a site is a proper rural place to stay, surrounded by trees and with the River Dyfi running down one side. The convenient access comes in the form of the A470, one of the main roads running through this part of the world. It’s just outside the site, making your ins and outs nice and simple, and making it easy to get out for day trips to Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park or over to the coast. For even more on the convenience front, the village of Cemmaes is about 10 minutes’ walk away, with a traditional pub (serving food as well as drinks) and an award-winning village shop/café. For more shopping and eating, head to Machynlleth, 15 minutes’ drive away. The setup at this site is fairly simple, but guests have access to smart bathroom facilities and an indoor washing-up/kitchen area. Dogs are welcome, and there’s plenty of space for them and the kids to have a good run about.

Staff, particularly Chris, are consistently praised for being exceptionally friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Chis is a brilliant site manager, the pitches were spacious...we pitched on the lower field by the river and the toilets and showers, what can I say, the best I've ever seen. They were spacious, clean and had everything you need. We definitely will be back. And, to top it all we had the experience of the RAF low flying fighter jets training along the valley. What a bonus.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Chris was absolutely amazing offering me options of pitches on arrival that he thought may suit us best and he was spot on. Our pitch in the bottom field was perfect with the dogs, river & the 'Mach loop arena' which is what we went for. He was super accommodating for a friend arriving at short notice too with his van. Matt & his family were lovely checking in on us too & we met owner Aled one evening & had a lovely chat & he interacted with the dogs. Fabulously dog friendly & perfect with the river to cool everyone down with 30+ degrees our week. The facilities are 1st class & even the bins, water & elsan had flowers to make them look 'attractive'! There is a pub nearby (dog friendly), cafe (not dog friendly) & nearest 'big' shop is Coop in Machynlleth. Turn left out of campsite for a few miles & to the right off the roundabout is a petrol station. Overall it was even better than I expected because of the staff, site & we were very lucky to have full on flypasts most of the week. Texans, Hawks, Atlas, Typhoons, USAF F15s & commandos did a night pass 😝 The planes can be low & loud so bear this in mind if you have reactive dogs or family members. There is a kennels or something nearby so the noise can set them off too but it's not constant. Likewise the road is busier 'rush hour times' but didn't detract sleep. Can't wait to go back.

Disliked This is not a complaint at all towards the site just a word of advice for visitors should you be staying in the lower field next to the river - take some midgie/bite protection 🥴 no different to anywhere else with water. Again no reflection or complaint about the site but why do people who don't like dogs choose pet friendly sites to stay on 🤷 & this one is particularly pet friendly. I don't have kids but I know not to book family friendly sites during school holidays it not difficult to choose the right site for you 🤔

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Friendly and warm welcome from Chris and a friendly check up from Matt whilst we were setting up. Loved the spotlessly clean shower/toilet block and kitchen area. The view over the river was lovely and the large lower field was brilliant, not cramped with plenty of space. The low level flying from aircraft was great for us - especially the Atlas!

Electric grass pitch

Liked Absolutely amazing site! Location was superb, fantastic views of the surrounding area and located right next to a scenic river. Directly in the Mach loop path, so lots of opportunity to see low flying aircraft of all varieties throughout the day. Facilities were excellent; cleanliness was top notch, 4x individual wet rooms (plus 1x accessible wet room) made our stay very comfortable. Likewise the indoor pot wash room was always immaculate.
Matt was a wonderful guide on our first day, giving advice on location for pitching, and always just being a friendly face.
Chris was superb, providing excellent communication, and likewise always friendly and kind.
We couldn't have asked for a nicer break and cannot recommend Parc Bryndyfi highly enough!

Local attractions

You might be familiar with the Dyfi Osprey Project (20 minutes’ drive) from their live streaming platforms or from BBC’s Springwatch, but a visit to its Welsh headquarters makes it possible to admire these fabulous birds of prey in the flesh – either from the observatory tower or the boardwalks crossing the reserve. Corris (20 minutes) is a small village that packs a mighty punch with sights like King Arthur’s Labyrinth, an underground attraction where you come face to face with Welsh history and myths – from dragons and giants, to King Arthur and assorted knights. At Corris Mine Explorers, you go through subterranean tunnels to learn about the local history of slate mining. Head to Dolgellau (25 minutes) to experience splendid Eryri landscapes. Hiking trails include the popular Torrent Walk (Llwybr Clywedog), which snakes among woodland to a fern- and moss-covered ravine inhabited by otters and bats; and Precipice Walk (Llwybr Cynwch), which circles Llyn Cynwch reservoir.
