  • Peaceful dog-friendly site with views over Cardigan Bay
  • A 35-minute walk from New Quay; footpath to the Wales Coast Path
  • Shops and pubs in New Quay; playground and dog exercise area on site
Raring to go dolphin-spotting on the Wales Coast Path or fishing on a boat trip from New Quay? Very well – here’s Tyr Ffynnon Farm, an advantageous base for such coastal adventures. With 180-degree views over Cardigan Bay and a location just 35 minutes’ walk from New Quay, it would have been a shame to keep this quiet 38-acre working sheep farm for sheep only. Now, families and dogs (on leads) are welcome to come and relax at the elevated peninsular spot. There are plenty of walking areas away from the traffic – and just a couple of hundred metres from the entrance, there’s a public footpath where guests can join the Wales Coast Path. Spectacular views and the chance to spot dolphins… yes please. The coastal path passes through lively New Quay, where activities such as boat trips, sailing, fishing and watersports are on the agenda. Also called Cei Newydd, New Quay has a pretty harbour, sandy beaches and a sound selection of shops, pubs and restaurants for all your foodie desires. The pièce de resistance at Tyr Ffynnon Farm surely has to be the sublime sea-view sunsets that can be seen from the site. Other ace features include the modern shower and toilet facilities, which have hot electric showers, wash basins, toilets, electric hand dryers and electric sockets for hairdryers (in the ladies’ only) and a shaver point (in the gents’). Those with mini family members will also be pleased to find a playground and a fenced dog exercise area on site. Bonus points – the peaceful, friendly site is 20 minutes’ drive from Aberaeron, 35 minutes from Cardigan and 45 minutes from Aberystwyth.

What customers say

This campsite offers stunning sea views, with many guests praising the clean facilities and friendly, helpful owners. Pitches are generally spacious and well-maintained. It's a popular base for exploring local coastal paths and New Quay, though the walk can be steep. Some visitors noted the showers require payment and the site can be exposed to the wind. Electric grass pitch

Liked Great views and amazing sunsets from the campsite! Lovely play area for the kids. Also loved the fact that all the pitches are around the edge of the campsite, leaving the central field empty for kids (and adults!) to play - it’s easy to see them playing in the middle from your pitch.
If you have little ones remember to take a pushchair/carrier if you’re planning on walking into New Quay - we didn’t and it was a bit much for our two year old.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Booked this campsite for family of 4,
Greeted by friendly owners on arrival very helpful. Views were amazing, the children enjoyed, there was a park, and plenty of room for the children to play. Showers and toilets were clean, a charge for the showers which is not a big deal. 5 minute drive to new quay we all enjoyed, and would definitely camp here again.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Beautiful location. Fantastic views. We felt the site was well laid out. 2 showers and 2 toilets (in the women’s). Spotlessly clean!! Never any queues, that I noticed anyway. Charges for the use of the shower. 10 minutes max for £1 or 20p per 2 minutes. To avoid queues. Which we think is well justified and had no problem paying. So a good idea to have some change. Would definitely stay here again!!! 10/10.

Electric grass pitch

Liked The quality of the campsite, it was well set out and has all the amenities that’s required for camping. The owner’s ensure that everything that you need is there at hand, they helped out with extension leads for the electric pitches as my own was too short, thanks again. Amazing views from the electric pitches onto the west coastline.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review. So pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us.
We are really sorry that you experienced children riding the camp field on electric scooters. We did spot them and stopped them immediately we were made aware. Children should also not be permitted to climb our fencing-it costs a fortune to replace!
Thank you for staying with us and we ope to see you again when you will be most welcomed.

Local attractions

Days out in Aberaeron (20 minutes’ drive) – a regency town with a Georgian harbour and multi-coloured houses – could be spent taking yet more coastal walks, tucking into tapas and scallops around the harbour or licking a honey-flavoured ice cream by the sea. Strolls or fishing along the river Teifi might make it onto your itinerary in Cardigan (35 minutes). The town’s castle is on the riverside and has its own escape room. Another historical spot is in St Dogmaels (40 minutes), where there are abbey ruins with medieval roots. Aberystwyth (45 minutes) is much more than a university town. It’s also home to the National Library of Wales, a free museum and heaps of interesting shops. Elsewhere along the coast, Penbryn beach (25 minutes) is accessed through woodlands from the Wales Coast Path. A short detour from here will get you to Tresaith Waterfall (25 minutes).
