  • Peaceful dog-friendly site with views over Cardigan Bay
  • A 35-minute walk from New Quay; footpath to the Wales Coast Path
  • Shops and pubs in New Quay; playground and dog exercise area on site
Raring to go dolphin-spotting on the Wales Coast Path or fishing on a boat trip from New Quay? Very well – here’s Tyr Ffynnon Farm, an advantageous base for such coastal adventures. With 180-degree views over Cardigan Bay and a location just 35 minutes’ walk from New Quay, it would have been a shame to keep this quiet 38-acre working sheep farm for sheep only. Now, families and dogs (on leads) are welcome to come and relax at the elevated peninsular spot. There are plenty of walking areas away from the traffic – and just a couple of hundred metres from the entrance, there’s a public footpath where guests can join the Wales Coast Path. Spectacular views and the chance to spot dolphins… yes please. The coastal path passes through lively New Quay, where activities such as boat trips, sailing, fishing and watersports are on the agenda. Also called Cei Newydd, New Quay has a pretty harbour, sandy beaches and a sound selection of shops, pubs and restaurants for all your foodie desires. The pièce de resistance at Tyr Ffynnon Farm surely has to be the sublime sea-view sunsets that can be seen from the site. Other ace features include the modern shower and toilet facilities, which have hot electric showers, wash basins, toilets, electric hand dryers and electric sockets for hairdryers (in the ladies’ only) and a shaver point (in the gents’). Those with mini family members will also be pleased to find a playground and a fenced dog exercise area on site. Bonus points – the peaceful, friendly site is 20 minutes’ drive from Aberaeron, 35 minutes from Cardigan and 45 minutes from Aberystwyth.

What customers say

Lovely, quiet site with sea views. Praised for clean facilities, friendly hosts, and big pitches. Easy access to walks & New Quay. Showers cost extra, and facilities can be busy. Narrow lane & uphill walk back from town were noted.

Electric grass pitch (sea view)

Liked Clean facilities. Quick and easy check in.
Friendly welcome.

Disliked Not enough showers and toilets.
Showers were 20p for 2 minutes.
Nothing on Shower or toilet doors to indicate if they were vacant or engaged. No urinals in Gents.
Pitches all not level.
Site is a good distance from New Quay and no bus service close.
Elsan was a long way from most pitches tucked right in the far corner of the least used field.

From the manager: So sorry that we didn’t meet your expectations. Just to clarify a couple of points: Showers are from 20p-£1 in 20p increments up to a maximum of ten minutes. This hasn’t been increased in 3 years despite massive increases in water and electricity charges to us. This charge is shown in the Pitchup description. The doors do have locks so no accidental entry whilst showers are in use. We are planning on installing further showers and toilets as soon as council permits and finances allow.
The site is located overlooking Cardigan Bay with stunning 180 degree sea views and is a quick 5 minute drive into New Quay or a 30 minute walk-again as detailed in the Pitchup description.
Elsan disposal facilities are available in the rear field and also adjacent to the sea view field.
There is a local bus stop that runs a regular service located 0.9 mile away from us.
Once again so sorry that we didn’t meet your expectations but thank you for staying with us anyway.

Bill8ant place. We will return.

Clean, friendly well managed and perfectly maintained site. Highly recommended.

Disliked The single track road to getting to the site but if you are driving in Wales it is the norm.

Local attractions

Days out in Aberaeron (20 minutes’ drive) – a regency town with a Georgian harbour and multi-coloured houses – could be spent taking yet more coastal walks, tucking into tapas and scallops around the harbour or licking a honey-flavoured ice cream by the sea. Strolls or fishing along the river Teifi might make it onto your itinerary in Cardigan (35 minutes). The town’s castle is on the riverside and has its own escape room. Another historical spot is in St Dogmaels (40 minutes), where there are abbey ruins with medieval roots. Aberystwyth (45 minutes) is much more than a university town. It’s also home to the National Library of Wales, a free museum and heaps of interesting shops. Elsewhere along the coast, Penbryn beach (25 minutes) is accessed through woodlands from the Wales Coast Path. A short detour from here will get you to Tresaith Waterfall (25 minutes).
