  • Quiet family-friendly campsite 10 minutes’ drive from Cardigan Bay
  • Direct access to Wales Coast Path; Cei Bach Beach 10 minutes’ drive
  • Dogs welcome; licensed bistro, farm shop and a play barn on site
Sitting between the seaside towns of Aberaeron and New Quay, Moody Meadows is a family-run site 10 minutes’ drive from spectacular Cardigan Bay in Ceredigion. And not only is it family-run, it’s also very family-friendly, with a whole host of facilities to make life easy on site. These include a farm shop for topping up on supplies, a licensed bistro for those days when you can’t be bothered to spark up the barbecue and a play barn to keep kids safely occupied. The level, tree-lined pitches are all fully serviced with a lawned area for sitting out. Thoughtful additions in the shower block (it has disabled facilities) include hair dryers and a laundrette, and should you be bringing dogs with you, there’s also a dedicated dog wash area for cleaning muddy paws. With easy access off the A487, this quiet site is a convenient base for exploring Ceredigion, its beaches, historic sites and wildlife – watch out for red kites inland and dolphins in Cardigan Bay. A footpath leads from the site to the village of Llwyncelyn (10 minutes’ stroll), and a short walk from there takes you onto the scenic Wales Coast Path… You won’t need a car to explore the area, but a good pair of walking boots is essential.

What customers say

This is a highly-rated, well-maintained site with exceptionally clean facilities, spacious pitches, and excellent on-site dining at reasonable prices. Many guests praise the friendly staff and the overall peaceful atmosphere. Hot tub pitches are a popular luxury addition. Minor issues include occasional Wi-Fi unreliability and some confusion with signage. While many find it a perfect getaway, some note that certain pitches may require extra tent pegs due to hard standing.

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch (large)

Liked The overall site was very clean. The check in was smooth with a helpful guide to our pitch. Food in the restaurant was delicious.

Disliked On the Wednesday 27th 10am ish, we went to take our little one year old to the soft play. The young blonde girl came to welcome us in at the desk and asked if we had booked into a slot (which I was not made aware you had to book a time) she then offered an afternoon slot, to which I replied we shall leave it then (as we had pm plans) and without any other polite conversation she marched off from the desk back into the softplay kitchen to proceed to moan about us! It was clear she was ranting to another young colleague as she kept looking our way… I hadn’t even encouraged my son away from the entrance gate and could see her behaviour. It was enough to discourage us from booking anytime at the softplay! Shame!

Also it was very difficult to use the showers with a young child… slipping all over the floor and no family rooms or child seats to reduce injuries on wet floors etc. could benefit from a gripped floor in the shower cubicles and family showers.

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch (hot tub)

Liked Loved the safe atmosphere for the children to play freely. The staff were amazing and helped without a thought when we were off site and our shelter started to blow away.

Food was great in the restaurant and the shop again highly recommend

Disliked Would have liked a fenced in dog park to allow some freedom.

The children would have liked a free playground even small or allowed on the outside paid part in the evening

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch (hot tub)

Liked Easy check in, taken to our pitch by a lovely gent who explained everything.
Very clean site, facilities block nice and warm.
Hot tub a great touch and very spacious.
Drinking water at your pitch.
Adults only section wasn't available at the time of our booking so in regular area. Lots of e scooters to dodge on the road, parents shouting and children crying into the night and pre 7am. Luck of the draw on neighbours I guess as young family the other side of us were lovely.

Disliked Showers on a very very short timer, less than 10 seconds a time, very frustrating especially washing long hair!
WIFI very poor - didn't work at our pitch (18) at all.
The hardstanding - we came prepared with rock pegs but crikey it was tough going and bent lots of our pegs.
Still very uncomfortable under foot aswell even with heavy duty tarp under tent and carpet etc.

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch (large)

Liked Excellent Easy check in ,shown to the pitch everything explained by a lovely gentleman, pitch 39 near shower block , our pitch had hook up and water.
Went for lovely coastal walk with the dog then back to Moody Meadows for dinner, This place is awesome the Lasagne was superb washed down with a cider while other half who is gluten free had the salmon, so good that we decided we would try breakfast in the morning which again was first class and good value. Although we didn't take children just the dog it was a fantastic set up and great seeing the children playing

Disliked Absolutely nothing this place is First class and highly recommend it

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch (large)

Liked Large, well maintained site, large serviced pitch with gravel and a lawn area, plenty of room to park on your pitch, large facility block which was checked and cleaned twice a day, coin operated washer dryer and hair dryers, lots of recycling bins, around emptied regularly. Quiet period between 10pm and 8am.
Staff were very friendly, well stocked farm shop with local produce. Bistro on site open from breakfast through to late evening, though we preferred to eat elsewhere as we found the menus not to our personal tastes.
Nearby fresh milk vending machine (petrol station just up the road to get milk straight from the local farm

Disliked The pitch we were on was more sloped than it actually looked, the gravel stones were big and uncomfortable underfoot in the awning, rock pins and a lump hammer needed for pegging as well.
Wi-Fi signal is very weak from the middle of the park and beyond
The hair dryers weren't working throughout our stay and there are no sockets to use your own, so unless you have the electric output in your accommodation set up there's no way of drying wet hair.
Kids will be kids, so advise adult only areas if you prefer to avoid young kids during the school holiday times, as it's clearly a popular park for families with lots for the kids to do, however we did find that we were constantly trying to dodge e-scooters shooting across the road.
Water and drainage at back of pitch rather than at the side, so long pipes needed to connect to water and drainage

Local attractions

Take forays along the Wales Coast Path (direct access from the site), or pack a picnic and march the family down to sand-and-shingle Cei Bach Beach (50 minutes’ stroll/10 minutes’ drive) to see if you can spot dolphins playing in the waves. If the kids catch the wildlife bug, take them to see the birds of prey and butterfly house at the National Botanic Garden of Wales (55 minutes’ drive), where they can also encounter giant animal sculptures on lakeside walks. Learn more about the history of this corner of Ceredigion with a visit to the National Wool Museum (25 minutes), housed in an historic mill packed with original spinning looms; there are entertaining craft workshops for families. Fans of the combustion engine can see 19th-century machines in motion at The Internal Fire Museum of Power (20 minutes), giving an insight into the development of steam power. Staying with the heritage theme, tour the handsome John Nash-designed villa and lakeside gardens at National Trust - Llanerchaeron (10 minutes). If your offspring need an antidote to all that history, the crescent-shaped sandy beach at New Quay (10 minutes’ drive) has rock pools for crabbing and is backed by ice cream stalls and cafés.
