Sitting between the seaside towns of Aberaeron and New Quay, Moody Meadows is a family-run site 10 minutes’ drive from spectacular Cardigan Bay in Ceredigion. And not only is it family-run, it’s also very family-friendly, with a whole host of facilities to make life easy on site. These include a farm shop for topping up on supplies, a licensed bistro for those days when you can’t be bothered to spark up the barbecue and a play barn to keep kids safely occupied. The level, tree-lined pitches are all fully serviced with a lawned area for sitting out. Thoughtful additions in the shower block (it has disabled facilities) include hair dryers and a laundrette, and should you be bringing dogs with you, there’s also a dedicated dog wash area for cleaning muddy paws. With easy access off the A487, this quiet site is a convenient base for exploring Ceredigion, its beaches, historic sites and wildlife – watch out for red kites inland and dolphins in Cardigan Bay. A footpath leads from the site to the village of Llwyncelyn (10 minutes’ stroll), and a short walk from there takes you onto the scenic Wales Coast Path… You won’t need a car to explore the area, but a good pair of walking boots is essential.

Liked We stayed in the hot tub pitch, no12 it was lovely - very clean and well looked maintained
The whole thing is very well set up
We didn’t go to the restaurant the neighbours who did said it was lovely
Shower/toilet blocks immaculate
Easy to find, situated within 10 minutes of New Quay
Staff were helpful and pleasant

Disliked We couldn’t put the awning on the grass, only the hard standing which is solid so needs a proper hammer for the pegs
The pod at the side of us did have an awning on the grass but weren’t told to move it, we didn’t chance ours

Liked Quiet and peaceful, clean and tidy, polite and helpful staff. Toilets, washbasin and shower were all self contained in the cubicle. Well stocked shop and a fabulous Bistro.

Liked Absolutely everything! The pitch was lovely, everywhere was spotless, the staff were friendly, helpful & lovely (without exception), the food was faultless & reasonably priced & there was plenty to do & see on site & the local area

Liked Dog-friendly site with an adult-only area. Large pitches with hot tubs, such an amazing touch. Fabulous food in the bistro. Lovely staff. Gorgeous walk around the lake.

Disliked I would prefer a thicker fence or more planting between pitches. The bistro is quite expensive. The path to the coastal walk is overgrown.

Disliked Lack of WiFi (although its not a massive thing but its a great bonus)
the shop could have had a few more camping extras such as spare pegs and mallets just in case
the new toilet block although very clean and modern they tended to get blocked a lot

Liked Such an easy top marks! Absolutely loved our stay at Moody Meadows. The place is lovely, great setup with the hot tub pitch! The whole site is immaculately maintained, great staff throughout the whole site and the food in the bistro was 10/10! Already looking forward to returning in the future.

Take forays along the Wales Coast Path (direct access from the site), or pack a picnic and march the family down to sand-and-shingle Cei Bach Beach (50 minutes’ stroll/10 minutes’ drive) to see if you can spot dolphins playing in the waves. If the kids catch the wildlife bug, take them to see the birds of prey and butterfly house at the National Botanic Garden of Wales (55 minutes’ drive), where they can also encounter giant animal sculptures on lakeside walks. Learn more about the history of this corner of Ceredigion with a visit to the National Wool Museum (25 minutes), housed in a historic mill packed with original spinning looms; there are entertaining craft workshops for families. Fans of the combustion engine can see 19th-century machines in motion at The Internal Fire Museum of Power (20 minutes), giving an insight into the development of steam power. Staying with the heritage theme, tour the handsome John Nash-designed villa and lakeside gardens at National Trust - Llanerchaeron (10 minutes). If your offspring need an antidote to all that history, the crescent-shaped sandy beach at New Quay (10 minutes’ drive) has rock pools for crabbing and is backed by ice cream stalls and cafés.
