Oh, those views… You’ll be in a scenic spot indeed at Culloden Moor Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite, a peaceful site about 15 minutes’ drive from Inverness. The landscapes here are simply gorgeous, whether you’re putting your feet up with a drink on site or heading out for a hike in the surrounding countryside. This touring park is managed by the Caravan and Motorhome Club, with both members and non-members welcome. There’s a special price available for members though – that’s the one shown here, so non-members will need to select the £15 per night extra or buy a membership for £69. (That membership option is well worth considering if you're likely to spend more than four nights at a Club site over the year – it brings discounts at more than 140 UK sites, plus a collection of other perks including access to tailored caravan/motorhome insurance, discounts on days out and savings on top brands.) As you’d expect from a Club site, the facilities here are high quality – guests have access to a local information room, a launderette, a chemical disposal point and wifi, along with smart modern bathrooms with accessible facilities and a baby/toddler washroom. Kids can let off some steam at the playground and there’s a dog walk area where visiting canines can have a good sniff around in the woods. The woods also provide a good amount of shelter for the pitches too, and some nice paths to stroll along. And there’s plenty more scope for exploring nearby: you’ll be within easy reach of Loch Ness, Glen Affric and the Black Isle as well as the historic Culloden Battlefield, a mile and a half away.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Sanitair

Local attractions

If you only make it to one attraction around here, it should certainly be Culloden Battlefield (three minutes’ drive). Now managed by the National Trust for Scotland, this spot is the site of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s final defeat in 1746, and you can learn all about this historic moment at the well-presented visitor centre. Once you’ve ticked that off your list, perhaps move on to Inverness (15 minutes) to see the castle, visit the Victorian Market and explore the shopping and dining scene. Or maybe you’d rather head to Loch Ness (half an hour) to visit Urquhart Castle, go kayaking or take a boat tour of the lake. Further afield, the gorgeous scenery and wonderful wildlife of Glen Affric (an hour) make it well worth a trip. The rugged shoreline of the Black Isle (20 minutes) is closer, with the chance to take a dolphin-spotting boat trip. And of course there’s also the option of following the Whisky Trails around Speyside; Dufftown (an hour) is a good hub for this.
