  • Family-run Moray farm site in a Speyside woodland setting
  • Beaches, forest walks, golf course and Malt Whisky Trail all nearby
  • Woodland trails and kitchen on site; firepits for hire
Have a quiet relaxing time or a more adventurous holiday…The Loft in Moray is suitable for all tastes. Active sorts have plenty to keep them busy nearby, including whitewater rafting, sailing and surfing over at the coast, exploring the countryside by bike or taking a tour of the region's numerous whisky distilleries. For more chilled times, hire a firepit for lazy hours in the evening, or spend days out exploring walking trails that run around The Loft's grounds and the surrounding countryside. Amenities at this secluded wilderness site are in a converted Nissen shed, which houses a kitchen, showers, toilets (including accessible facilities) and a baby changing area. Hot water and cold drinking water is available here too, and there are more facilities up at the main reception building if required. Local shops, pubs and amenities are five miles away in Forres, and Elgin is within 15 minutes' drive. Beaches, forest trails and a golf course are all within a few minutes' drive as well, as is the Malt Whisky Trail for those in search of top tipples.

What customers say

This is a highly recommended campsite with spacious, private pitches often set amongst trees. Guests praised the clean and well-maintained facilities, including showers and kitchens, and enjoyed the peaceful countryside location. Animal feeding, a games barn, and woodland trails were popular with families. While some noted areas needing updating and occasional issues with shower temperature or equipment, the overall experience was overwhelmingly positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Easy check-in. Well thought out site pitches. Super clean facilities everywhere ... Showers are hot. dog friendly. Peaceful relaxing site. Being our first ever camping trip we were a bit apprehensive.. even more so with having our 2 German shepherds in the mix for added stress. The whole experience for us was unexpectedly good and very relaxing. The owners work tirelessly on site and it shows. 10/10 from us.

Disliked Absolutely nothing. If we were to say we disliked anything.. We'd only be grasping at straws..

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re absolutely delighted that your first camping trip was such a positive and relaxing experience and it was a real pleasure having you all here. Your German Shepherds were wonderfully well-behaved, and it was lovely to see you all enjoying the site together.

We really appreciate your kind words about the facilities and the site, it means a lot to us and our hard working team. We hope to welcome you again soon... Until then, take care and happy adventuring!

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked I liked everything about this site. Reception was closed when I arrived but as stated in welcome pack there was a box outside with details of my pitch. Pitch was a very good size, I was staying in a roof tent but pitch would have fitted both car and ground tent. located next to a dishwashing area and a shot walk from bathroom/shower room. Bathroom and shower room was very clean and well kept. Lots walls and cycle paths leading from the site. My 8 year old boy loved exploring the fairy train with the handmade tree swings, slides etc. would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

From the manager: Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for sharing your photos! We’re thrilled you enjoyed your pitch, facilities and the little touches for kids, it’s great to hear your son had such a fun time exploring. We’re also glad the welcome pack and self check-in worked well for you. We’d love to welcome you back again soon and really appreciate your recommendation!

Sheiling Cabin 1 bedroom cabin (hot tub)

Liked The loft has all the facilities you would need either staying in a tent camper or lodge ie shower blocks very clean toilets very clean .
I stayed in a lodge we had everything we needed shower cooker fridge freezer microwave and hot tub just outside amazing

Disliked When we turned up a little late we ended going in the wrong entrance and was met with a very angry owner asking if we could read instructions not what you want when you go for a relaxing weekend ,
The lodge we stayed in had everything we needed but could do with an update leather was all scratched off the sofa the floor very scratched and bedding could do with an up date ie pillows and duvets

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your feedback. We’re delighted you enjoyed your lodge, facilities and the hot tub. We’re really sorry that the welcome on arrival wasn't as welcoming as it should have been — that’s never our intention, and we always want every guest to feel relaxed and looked after from the start. We send detailed pre-arrival instructions to help guests find the correct entrance and check in easily, and we encourage everyone to review these before arrival to make the experience as relaxed as possible.

We really appreciate your comments about the lodge furnishings, including the leather and bedding. We’re constantly looking at ways to update and improve our accommodation, so your feedback is really helpful.

We hope the rest of your stay gave you a chance to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and the site.

All-season non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Toilets

Disliked All pitches very close together and all under trees for campers . Very shaded
Only caravans had nice grass pitches .
Not quite as photographs !!
Left early after first night … paid extra to stay nearby by for a couple of nights -
First camp not to feel excited about , disappointed .

From the manager: We’re sorry to hear your stay wasn’t what you hoped for. It looks like the photo shown on Pitchup for your pitch type at the time was one uploaded by a guest and not of the woodland non-electric area you were allocated. That has now been corrected so future guests see an accurate picture.

Most campers enjoy the woodland pitches for their space, privacy and shelter, but we appreciate it’s not everyone’s preference. If you had mentioned it during your stay, we would have done our best to move you to another area that you preferred. We wish you all the best with your future camping adventures.

Electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Family friendly especially if you have animal obsessed children like me. Spacious pitches with separate spaces for fire pits. Kids loved feeding the goats and looking out for the cows coming out to graze.

Disliked The only thing I can think of is that for a site with lots of pitches they would benefit from one or two more showers. Beyond that I couldn't fault our week here.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you! We’re so glad the kids loved feeding the goats and spotting the cows, they've stolen the show this summer! We do try and make sure enough showers are open for the number of guests on site and are sorry if you were ever kept waiting.

Local attractions

Stage your own mock battles at Culloden; the battlefield and a modern visitor centre are half an hour’s drive away. History buffs will also find plenty of castles and moody standing stones to clamber around. Moray’s mild climate and low average rainfall mean there’s a good chance of making the most of the fabulous golf courses, sailing, sandy beaches, forest trails and awesome mountains – you can even take to the slopes during the ski season. Amber nectar aficionados will also be interested in making the rounds of the renowned whisky distilleries nearby: everyone’s heard of Glenmorangie, Glenlivet and Glenfiddich, all easily doable from the site, but with half of Scotland’s malt whisky distilleries located in the Speyside area of Moray, there’s no shortage of options, including two beauties close by in Forres. If you don't know where to start, or want to get a comprehensive overview, hit the Malt Whisky Trail for a planned route around producers large and small.
