  • Family-run Moray farm site in a Speyside woodland setting
  • Beaches, forest walks, golf course and Malt Whisky Trail all nearby
  • Woodland trails and kitchen on site; firepits for hire
Have a quiet relaxing time or a more adventurous holiday…The Loft in Moray is suitable for all tastes. Active sorts have plenty to keep them busy nearby, including whitewater rafting, sailing and surfing over at the coast, exploring the countryside by bike or taking a tour of the region's numerous whisky distilleries. For more chilled times, hire a firepit for lazy hours in the evening, or spend days out exploring walking trails that run around The Loft's grounds and the surrounding countryside. Amenities at this secluded wilderness site are in a converted Nissen shed, which houses a kitchen, showers, toilets (including accessible facilities) and a baby changing area. Hot water and cold drinking water is available here too, and there are more facilities up at the main reception building if required. Local shops, pubs and amenities are five miles away in Forres, and Elgin is within 15 minutes' drive. Beaches, forest trails and a golf course are all within a few minutes' drive as well, as is the Malt Whisky Trail for those in search of top tipples.

What customers say

Guests rave about clean facilities, spacious/private sites, and beautiful rural views. It's peaceful with friendly staff, great for families (games barn, farm animals). Minor notes on solar lighting and shower capacity, but most guests want to return.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, we’re glad you enjoyed the peace and quiet of the site.

During the quieter winter months we maintain enough heat in the facilities for frost protection so we’re able to stay open. As one of the few sites in the area operating through the winter, there is always a bit of a balance between keeping the site viable and keeping facilities comfortable when guest numbers are lower. We appreciate your feedback and hope you otherwise enjoyed your stay with us.

We’d love to welcome you back again.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, we’re really glad you enjoyed your stay overall.

During the quieter winter months we do our best to keep facilities comfortable, but as one of the few sites open year-round we have to balance heating with the practicalities of running the site sustainably when guest numbers are much lower. We appreciate your understanding, and hope the rest of your stay made up for the chilly dash to the shower!

We’d love to welcome you back again soon.

All-season powered grass campsite

Liked Arrived and welcome pack was were it said it would be. Pitch was spacious enough for the motorhome. Electrics easy and accessible. The toilet block and kitchen were absolutely spotless. Only challenge we had was the motorhome had dumped all the water the previous night and there was no tap next to the pitch to top up, so was the only slight negative of the pitch, but everything else was perfect. We would definitely visit again in the future. Thanks to the Loft staff that made it so seemless.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review. We’re delighted everything felt seamless for you and that you found the facilities spotless, our team work really hard to keep them that way.

We appreciate your note about the water point. Our taps are located at designated service areas rather than on each pitch, but we understand it can be a little inconvenient depending on circumstances.

We’re so pleased you’d visit again, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future!

All-season powered grass campsite

Liked What a lovely place to stay, facilities were clean and tidy, pitch was close to shower block and toilets. Ideal for walking with the dog with plenty of rural walks. Peaceful and quiet with town only a short drive away. Would recommend to anyone who likes a good rural setting and away from the rush of it all. We will definitely be visiting again. Staff were very friendly

Cabin (hot tub, ensuite)

Liked Great site, had a lovely experience both with the owners and the site itself, had some Highland cows so was a bonus.

Disliked Solar Lighting understandable didn't last long or didn't get enough charge to light up but part from that wasn't much else didn't like

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review! It was a pleasure having you stay! We’re delighted you enjoyed your Wigwam and hot tub, and that our Highland cows added a little extra magic. ☺️

We appreciate your understanding with regard to the solar lights. Up here, depending on how much of a shift the sun has pulled during the day, the solar lights can be a little shy after sunset, but they add to the cosy charm!

Local attractions

Stage your own mock battles at Culloden; the battlefield and a modern visitor centre are half an hour’s drive away. History buffs will also find plenty of castles and moody standing stones to clamber around. Moray’s mild climate and low average rainfall mean there’s a good chance of making the most of the fabulous golf courses, sailing, sandy beaches, forest trails and awesome mountains – you can even take to the slopes during the ski season. Amber nectar aficionados will also be interested in making the rounds of the renowned whisky distilleries nearby: everyone’s heard of Glenmorangie, Glenlivet and Glenfiddich, all easily doable from the site, but with half of Scotland’s malt whisky distilleries located in the Speyside area of Moray, there’s no shortage of options, including two beauties close by in Forres. If you don't know where to start, or want to get a comprehensive overview, hit the Malt Whisky Trail for a planned route around producers large and small.
