  • Small, well-maintained touring site in the Ochil hills
  • Stirling Castle and The Kelpies within a half-hour drive
  • Stopover point for North Coast 500 and Heart 200 routes
Want to cram in several different Scottish experiences all from one location? Highland Gateway Glamping and Caravanning is in a strategic Clackmannanshire spot between Clackmannan and Kincardine (about five minutes’ drive from both) and within easy reach of all sorts of things to do and places to go. Glasgow, Stirling and the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park can all be on your schedule during a stay here: all are within a 40-minute drive. The centre of Edinburgh, meanwhile, can be reached in less than an hour. Golfers have a choice of three courses to play on nearby, plus the option of Gleneagles (40 minutes away). There are also loads of great options around for walking and cycling: it’s a 20-minute walk or five-minute bike ride to the start of the Fife Coastal Path, and the National Cycle Network route 76 passes just by the site’s driveway. Dogs are welcome (max of three per booking), and there is enclosed area on site where they can run around off lead. The campsite is next to a right of way that's great for walks – with or without dogs. You can also head out into the Ochil hills, just around the park, for a walk or a day of cycling – although there are some great views on site too for those who fancy taking in the scenery over a barbecue instead. All-weather pitches here are fully serviced and have access to a picnic area, a black water and grey water disposal point, heated toilet and shower facilities and a washing-up point. The pitches are dog-friendly (up to three dogs are permitted). If you’re planning a longer tour of Scotland, it may be handy to know that this site is well located for the Heart 200 route and the North Coast 500.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Good size pitches & clean facilities. Secure dog field was a welcome addition.

Disliked: Electric point was difficult to connect to & a top-up was needed in the early hours of the morning. Would prefer to pay more for the pitch for unlimited electric.

From the manager: Hi, thank you for your review, you never said what difficulty you had to connect, they are standard, newer version, widely used, Reloc hook-ups only 3 years old and checked regularly,

You do get credit included in your pitch fee and if required you can self top up on an App on your mobile phone. The top up can be done at any time, any place, it also display the usage for you to monitor. This system, called Campavolt, is recommended by the Caravan and Motorhome Club and used by a lot of Campsites.

Liked: Lovely small organised campsite which was immaculately clean and tidy. Great small paddock for the dog to be let off the lead. Shower was lovely and warm and all facilities in good working order. Recycling bins very well set up and plentiful. Had a lovely walk down the track beside the site, through the woods to a stunning view on the circular route. So nice and quiet and self check in was easy and hassle free.

Liked: Newly appointed site with level gravel pitches and clean and warm shower and toilet facilities. All facilities carefully thought out.

Disliked: Far too many ‘ Do Not’ notices. Very off putting for an adult only site.

From the manager: We are glad you liked our little campsite and appreciate you saying it is well though out, we have put a lot of hard work into it and are always, as funds allow, making improvements,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the signs. Our signs are in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all our guests, as well as to help everyone navigate the campsite more easily. We also have to comply with our campsite licence. We strive to keep them as minimal and unobtrusive as possible while still providing important information. If there's a specific concern you have, we’d love to hear your suggestions on how we can improve the experience while maintaining a safe and well-organised environment. Especially for guests new to touring who may not have read the terms & conditions or the arrival emails and are unsure of campsite etiquette. We truly appreciate your input!

Local attractions

Your main issue around here (and it’s a good problem to have…) will be deciding what to do first. Perhaps it’ll be a trip to Glasgow (35 minutes’ drive) to stroll through the West End, visit Glasgow Science Centre or admire the artwork at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum? Or maybe city life on a slightly smaller scale in Stirling (25 minutes), where you can visit the castle and National Wallace Monument? Sticking to the open air you may like to view the huge outdoor artwork known as The Kelpies (20 minutes) or marvel at the Falkirk Wheel (25 minutes), Scotland’s only rotating boat lift. There’s also the option of a good walk or bike ride in Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park (40 minutes) or following in the footsteps of the world’s best golfers at Gleneagles (40 minutes). Want to view some animals while you’re out and about? Stop by at Briarlands Farm for a family-friendly farm day, or seek out something more exotic at Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park; both are about half an hour away.
