  • Small, well-maintained touring site in the Ochil hills
  • Stirling Castle and The Kelpies within a half-hour drive
  • Stopover point for North Coast 500 and Heart 200 routes
Want to cram in several different Scottish experiences all from one location? Highland Gateway Glamping and Caravanning is in a strategic Clackmannanshire spot between Clackmannan and Kincardine (about five minutes’ drive from both) and within easy reach of all sorts of things to do and places to go. Glasgow, Stirling and the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park can all be on your schedule during a stay here: all are within a 40-minute drive. The centre of Edinburgh, meanwhile, can be reached in less than an hour. Golfers have a choice of three courses to play on nearby, plus the option of Gleneagles (40 minutes away). There are also loads of great options around for walking and cycling: it’s a 20-minute walk or five-minute bike ride to the start of the Fife Coastal Path, and the National Cycle Network route 76 passes just by the site’s driveway. Dogs are welcome (max of three per booking), and there is enclosed area on site where they can run around off lead. The campsite is next to a right of way that's great for walks – with or without dogs. You can also head out into the Ochil hills, just around the park, for a walk or a day of cycling – although there are some great views on site too for those who fancy taking in the scenery over a barbecue instead. All-weather pitches here are fully serviced and have access to a picnic area, a black water and grey water disposal point, heated toilet and shower facilities and a washing-up point. The pitches are dog-friendly (up to three dogs are permitted). If you’re planning a longer tour of Scotland, it may be handy to know that this site is well located for the Heart 200 route and the North Coast 500.

What customers say

This adults-only spot is lauded for its spotless facilities, tranquil vibe, and gorgeous country outlook. Guests rave about the neat hardstanding pitches, great dog field, and the owners' helpfulness. Toilets and showers are always clean and cosy. Perfect for exploring or heading north, with easy access. A few noted the pitch size for bigger vans and grass area rules.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Quiet site, lovely dog field, everything was well maintained. Facilities were spotless and warm. The atmosphere on a night with the lights and stars was lovely!

Disliked Exposed pitches. The wind can certainly get you here! The shower water pressure was low.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. We’re really pleased you enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, dog field, and found the facilities spotless, warm, and well maintained. It’s lovely to hear you appreciated the night setting with the lights and stars.

We’re sorry the weather affected your stay—being in a roof tent during stormy weather can feel quite exposed, even though the campsite is surrounded by hedging.

Regarding the shower, as a push button free electric unit it regulates flow to maintain a consistent temperature, which can feel lower than a traditional boiler-fed system, but this is not related to the site’s water pressure.

We hope to welcome you again in calmer weather.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Dog play area and thank you for changing our booking date when our dog was poorly, that really helped. Area is clean and tidy with good facilities and it has waste and water at each pitch. A good place to hunker down before travelling north.

Disliked The only place we have stayed where we have been limited on electricity. It didn't cover our needs.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review. We’re so pleased you enjoyed the dog play area and found the site clean, tidy, and well equipped. It was absolutely no trouble to adjust your booking when your dog was unwell—we’re just glad it helped during what can be a worrying time.

We’re sorry the electricity provision wasn’t quite right for your stay. Our pitches include 10 kWh per day, which suits the vast majority of guests, with the option to top up if needed. As a small, carefully managed campsite without the additional income streams of larger parks, this system helps us balance fairness, quality, and long-term sustainability. We truly value your feedback.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Great communication from owners via email. Easy to find using their directions.
No fuss on arrival. Your pitch number clearly displayed on a board at reception.
Campsite was small with well spaced out pitches. Toilets/shower were clean. Small Dog paddock so our pooch could stretch his legs after a long journey. Stunning views of the snow capped mountains.
10 mins from Alloa where there's numerous supermarkets to choose from.

Disliked No complaints from us.

Local attractions

Your main issue around here (and it’s a good problem to have…) will be deciding what to do first. Perhaps it’ll be a trip to Glasgow (35 minutes’ drive) to stroll through the West End, visit Glasgow Science Centre or admire the artwork at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum? Or maybe city life on a slightly smaller scale in Stirling (25 minutes), where you can visit the castle and National Wallace Monument? Sticking to the open air you may like to view the huge outdoor artwork known as The Kelpies (20 minutes) or marvel at the Falkirk Wheel (25 minutes), Scotland’s only rotating boat lift. There’s also the option of a good walk or bike ride in Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park (40 minutes) or following in the footsteps of the world’s best golfers at Gleneagles (40 minutes). Want to view some animals while you’re out and about? Stop by at Briarlands Farm for a family-friendly farm day, or seek out something more exotic at Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park; both are about half an hour away.
