Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Picturesque site in beautiful area.
Proximiy to Oban.
The walks and views.
Friendly informative staff.

Disliked: Shower/toilet block was cold despite the heating being on, due to the entrance door always being open.
Dirty toilet.
A lot of water (or something) on the floor under the urinals.
Cold water out of pot wash hot taps, (used four times and only got luke warm water once and that didn't last).
No drinking water from taps. You have to boil it or buy bottled Water.
Couldn't find a level pitch.
If you go out for the day, you lose your pitch to newcomers and have to setup again.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Due to our fault, we didn’t read that reception is unmanned after 6pm. However, when arriving around 6:30pm we discovered a letter with my name taped to the reception door with info on where we camp. LOVED THIS!! so kind and helpful and made it so easy for us. I also loved how warm and clean the bathrooms were with lights overnight making them easy to spot. I also liked the fact there were women only toilets so i felt safer going to the bathroom alone.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Close to Oban

Disliked: The grass pitches that were open were all on a hill, couldn’t get to the flat pitches because lodges were on the lane that were waiting to be built.
All the grass pitches were completely waterlogged so couldn’t park the van on the pitches. Everyone was crowded around one gravel area because all vans would have gotten stuck!

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Shower block was clean & nice Views from the top of the site.

Disliked: Electric campervan grass pitches were not allocated so it was a bit of a free for all. Most grass areas were water logged, and highly likely to get van stuck in them, a lot of the grass areas looked a mess by being churned up by vehicles, I’m not sure why these pitches are being sold when they’re not suitable for use. We were forced to pull onto a plain gravelled area at the top of the site for the night, many other vans in the same position did the same thing. However it appeared this was in use as a HGV turning circle which was a surprise later in the evening!

Local attractions

Getting out to see the surroundings? There are lots of lovely walks to be done nearby, or you can hire bikes in Oban (10 minutes’ drive) for scenic cycle rides. Achnalarig Riding Stables (10 minutes) is another option, for pony and horse riding lessons or treks – or you might like to see what’s out at sea by joining a scuba trip from Puffin Dive Centre (five minutes’ walk). Once you’ve viewed Kerrera from your pitch, head up the road (five minutes’ drive) to board a ferry over to the island – there’s a great seven-mile walking trail that runs from the harbour and will show you some of the island’s best bits. For other islands, it’s a 10-minute drive to Oban harbour, where services run to Lismore, Mull, Iona and Coll as well as more far-flung destinations. Back on the mainland, you may like to stop by at Dunstaffnage Castle (20 minutes), the Green Shoots garden (15 minutes) and Cruachan Dam Visitor Centre (35 minutes) – and don't forget a dram at Oban Distillery (10 minutes)…
