  • Simple site by Peterhead's beach, harbour and marina
  • A 20-minute walk from town centre and 50 minutes' drive from Aberdeen
  • Coast walks, nature reserves and museums within a 40-minute drive
Coast walks, country parks, seal spotting, whisky sipping… if your holiday wish list includes all, some or any of the above, potter along to Marina Bay Holiday Park. This relaxed site is right on the harbour, beach and marina of the so-called Blue Toon, named after the coloured stockings formerly worn by Peterhead’s fishermen. They go for a more modern style these days, but this Aberdeenshire town is still a busy and thriving port and you’ll be well placed to watch all the activity from your lodgings at the park. Peterhead is a simple site with hot showers, toilets and a washing-up area. Barbecues are welcome, as are canine companions – and the adjacent beach is dog-friendly too. So you, the dog and the rest of the family might like to take a 20-minute stroll by the sea and into town… where there are shops and supermarkets and a grand spread of places for dining and drinking. With your shopping and supping needs seen to, it’s time to get historical in Peterhead Museum, where the town’s past as a whaling centre is on display alongside an array of Inuit and polar objects brought back from icy waters far to the north. For a different kind of chill, head to Peterhead Prison Museum and get locked up in the cells, or mix your time travelling with exercise while walking the Peterhead Town Trail around the streets and out to the cliffs.

What customers say

This well-maintained site offers stunning coastal views and convenient access to local amenities, including shops and the beach. Staff are consistently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness, with particular mention of the warden. Facilities are generally clean and adequate, though some reviews suggest the shower block could benefit from an update, and broken locks were noted. Pitch placement varied, with some enjoying prime views and others experiencing closeness to neighbouring units. Issues with broken locks and glass on gravel pitches have been acknowledged by management.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Great view of the Peterhead bay.

Toilet block always clean and plenty hot water for shower.

Disliked Awning pitch difficult to peg up awning as ground gravel hard to install pegs.
Space between pitches very narrow.
Only enough room for awning or car at pitch which was very narrow approximately 3 meters for awning or car parking at side of caravan.
Very tight.

No WiFi at seafront pitches and full price for these pitches charged.
Long distant to toilet block and waste disposal of rubbish and toilet waste.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Beautiful peaceful scenery and friendly staff. Lovely watching the ships come in and out the harbour and step out the door onto the beach. Facilities well kept and everything we needed in the local area (Aldi/town/garage a stine throw away) for a fantastic stay!

Local attractions

For further walks and sea views, set a course for Slaing Castle (15 minutes’ drive), a 16th-century ruin high on the cliffs, or take your binoculars to the stark, empty and almost desert-like landscape of the Forvie National Nature Reserve to spot eiders, terns and seal colonies among the shifting dunes. There’s nature of a tamer kind at Aden Country Park (20 minutes), where the Victorian arboretum and the Aberdeenshire Farming Museum make for interesting wanders, alongside playgrounds and a dog agility course for those who just want to get jumping. On a grander scale, Haddo House (40 minutes) is a mix of country pile plus fine art collection and woodland wilderness. The most northerly city in the United Kingdom, Aberdeen, is a 50-minute trip away: take a cruise to the offshore wind farms and the oil rigs, hopefully spotting dolphins and porpoises, seals and even the odd whale enroute. If that hasn’t resulted in seasickness, test your nerves further on the thrill rides of Codonas Amusement Park then calm yourself with walks by the Dee through the green spaces of Duthie Park. Mountains? The Cairngorms National Park is around an hour and 40 minutes away, full of peaks, castles and ski resorts, with famed distilleries like Glenlivet, Glenfiddich and Tomintoul providing welcoming and warming stopoffs in between.
