Lodgehill Campsite: Lodgehill campsite

General

  • Wild camping field with spectacular views over Aberdeenshire farmland
  • 10 minutes' drive from Banff; Speyside Way 20 minutes
  • Family and dog-friendly site near shops, cafés and dolphin spotting

Lodgehill Campsite is a four-acre grass site set in arable fields overlooking peaceful Aberdeenshire countryside. It’s wild camping at its best, but with the added advantage of being close to the towns of Cornhill (five minutes’ drive) and Banff (10 minutes) for essential shopping, making this a clever back-to-basics choice for families – and dogs are welcome too.

The region is well-known for its agricultural shows and boat festivals during the summer months, and it’s a short road trip to Banff's beach, the distilleries that line the Speyside Way or to see dolphins swimming in the Moray Firth. Historic fishing villages with seafront cafés and welcoming pubs are also within easy reach.

Secluded it might be, but the site is also easily accessed off the main A95 road – and you can park by the pitches too, so there’s no lugging gear around the site for you. The main pitching area is very spacious indeed and is a short walk away from a burn and the wilder areas of the farm. Barbecues are allowed at Lodgehill Campsite – just keep them off the ground and use your common sense.

Please note

Minimum spacing of 7 metres between pitches.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Bookings must not consist of more than 3 different households.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Quiet and peaceful, secluded but not far from Banff/Portsoy. Use of the fire pit was good, pitches were mostly level, easy to find off the main road. Shower and water available although I did not use so not sure how it was.

    Disliked:

    Not a flushing toilet.

The site is simple and well-maintained with beautiful views. The "Polly Bothy" and fire pit area is a great addition to such a simple site as it gave us an area out of the wind to light our camping stoves!
Despite being just off the A95, it's super quiet - we could sit by the fire and see the cars but we couldn't hear them.

    Disliked:

There's not really anything to do within walking distance of the site so you will have to drive to any activities but at least the road links are good.

Bell tent size was great. Nicely looked after area. The toilet area was very clean. Lovely area not far from places such as Portsoy. Was nice and quiet which is what we were after to get away from the city. Owners were very easy to get hold of and responded to message we sent very quickly.
