General

  • Family-run farm park with a friendly atmosphere
  • Plenty of space and animals on site
  • Also with a hot tub

There are quite a few things to adore about . First up, its Limerick location, well set to use as a base while you investigate the many interesting attraction all around, or to stop at for a day or two on a mammoth Irish sightseeing trip.

Next up, the fact that it's in the centre of a small farm, which means there are animals on site that the Adare owners say always like a bit of attention – this is always a plus to animal-soppy . And third, the fact that there's a hot tub – always a warm wrinkly plus too.

A cordial welcome and relaxing atmosphere are also guaranteed at this family-run park, as are snapworthy scenes at nearby Adare, claimed as one of the prettiest villages in Ireland: stroll along with your camera to see of what we speak.

has loos and showers on site; a small charge applies for the use of the showers.

Adare caravan park is a little piece of heaven in the countryside, just outside the beautiful town of Adare. All pitches are large, spacious and private. The facilities are spotlessly clean, and well maintained. However, what makes Adare Caravan Park is the family that own and run this site. They are so attentive, friendly, interested and courteous. Hugh and Aiofe are terrific hosts and go out of their way to make you feel at home. We have thoroughly enjoyed our week in Adare and will certainly be back in the future for another piece of tranquility.

How friendly and welcoming the owner was, he even opened the gate for you to come in, chivalry is not dead! Great personal touches. Loved the kitchenette! It made camping more comfortable. The site is a lovely size, even when a large group arrived it was managed well so others weren't disturbed. It is a well maintained site and in a great location; we stayed 5 nights and travelled around in the days to different places.

    Disliked:

Directions

From Limerick:

The campsite is located 2 miles outside Adare. Travelling from Limerick city, go through Adare on the N21 and take the first left turn after the traffic lights, on the Ballingarry Road (R519). Travel for approximately 1 mile and turn at the first left. You will find the campsite on the right-hand side.

From County Kerry: coming up to Adare on the N21, make a right turn, signposted for Ballingarry (R519), continue up this road and take the first left, the campsite is on the right.

Local attractions

Eminently attractive Adare is one of Ireland's designated Heritage Towns and has plenty of shops and restaurants to sustain one on a snapshotting wander. There are two golf courses, a pitch and putt and the remains of three abbeys to wander around too; a new playground is on the village outskirts.

Slightly further afield, take to the water at Killalow, a lakeside town with cabin cruisers and other boats; tackle go-karting at Kilcornar; flit to the flying boat museum at Foynes, or explore the walks and bike rides of Curraghchase Forest Park between Adare and Askeaton (Arthurian fans: Tennyson claimed to have seen the Lady of the Lake here).

The Grange stone circle, the biggest in Ireland, is near Lough Gur, between the Limerick towns of Herbertstown and Bruff.

Or take a day in Limerick City, former home of Frank McCourt of Angela's Ashes fame, River Shannon boat tours, King John's Castle, Limerick City Museum and quite a large amount of nightlife: bop along to Dolan's Warehouse for some of the best live music gigs.
