General

  • Family-run farm park with a friendly atmosphere
  • Plenty of space and animals on site
  • Also with a hot tub

There are quite a few things to adore about Adare Camping and Caravan Park. First up, its Limerick location, well set to use as a base while you investigate the many interesting attraction all around, or to stop at for a day or two on a mammoth Irish sightseeing trip.

Next up, the fact that it's in the centre of a small farm, which means there are animals on site that the Adare owners say always like a bit of attention – this is always a plus to animal-soppy . And third, the fact that there's a hot tub – always a warm wrinkly plus too.

A cordial welcome and relaxing atmosphere are also guaranteed at this family-run park, as are snapworthy scenes at nearby Adare, claimed as one of the prettiest villages in Ireland: stroll along with your camera to see for yourself.

Adare Camping and Caravan Park has toilets and showers on site; a small charge applies for the use of the showers.

What a lovely site with great facilities ,spotless toilets, level pitches and friendly staff.

    Disliked:

As people had put the incorrect money in for the shower perhaps using a token would be less confusing for visitors.

    Very clean site

    Disliked:

Position of tent area .. no cut off for late entries to site. Tents right on edge of gravel walk way which used all night by people going to toilet area and camper vans cars arriving late . Still noisy from Campervan and late arrivals at 1 a. M

From the manager...

I have already responded to this review but after speaking to my staff they pointed some things out to me that may give readers of this review a wrong impression.
we got 4 out of 10 for facilities and activities. I presume this is only for facilities as we do not provide activities which makes for a pretty miserable 4 out of 10 for facilities.Facilities to me would be toilet and shower block, laundry, farm walk, hot tub, campers kitchen with comfortable chairs wood burning stove etc, and I suppose cutting grass and hedges and watering flowers would come under this category.
customer service 4 out of 10. I find this disappointing as I spend 15 hours a day 7 days a week on customer service and am available 24 hours a day
child friendly 4 out of ten again I dont know why, as we get a lot of young children on site through out the year and parents love the safety and quietness and you did not have children with you.
There is always a few nights in the year which dont go according to plan and sometimes we can not do anything about it and I am sorry about that..I will never understand why customers do not approach us about complaints, as we have asked for in a few places on site in notices, which would give us the opportunity to give a refund if it was necessary Thank you for giving me the opportunity to respond.
Hugh.

pitches are spacious. Toilets and showers are cleaned daily. Good hot water pressure. WiFi is excellent. The local village Adare is very pretty with many friendly welcoming pubs and eateries. Several shops to buy all your groceries and needs. A very friendly village with a beautiful park.

    Disliked:

Feels a little impersonal,we had 5 night stay, only saw owners on check-in, but other campers were friendly.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review you are right when you say it was a bit impersonal I was very conscious that I hadn't met you very much I don't know why our paths didn't cross much but that's what happened. I'm sorry about that

Well run site, owners are very friendly and extremely helpful. Good level pitches, hard and soft standing with water and ESB close by. Facilities are clean and well maintained plus there is a campers kitchen and snug with wood burner, fridges, microwave and toaster. Outside there is a large play area and hottub. Dog friendly site roughly 2km from the beautiful village of Adare. Would visit again and certainly recommend.

Directions

From Limerick:

The campsite is located 2 miles outside Adare. Travelling from Limerick city, go through Adare on the N21 and take the first left turn after the traffic lights, on the Ballingarry Road (R519). Travel for approximately 1 mile and turn at the first left. You will find the campsite on the right-hand side.

From County Kerry: coming up to Adare on the N21, make a right turn, signposted for Ballingarry (R519), continue up this road and take the first left, the campsite is on the right.

Local attractions

Eminently attractive Adare is one of Ireland's designated Heritage Towns and has plenty of shops and restaurants to sustain one on a snapshotting wander. There are two golf courses, a pitch and putt and the remains of three abbeys to wander around too; a new playground is on the village outskirts.

Slightly further afield, take to the water at Killalow, a lakeside town with cabin cruisers and other boats; tackle go-karting at Kilcornar; flit to the flying boat museum at Foynes, or explore the walks and bike rides of Curraghchase Forest Park between Adare and Askeaton (Arthurian fans: Tennyson claimed to have seen the Lady of the Lake here).

The Grange stone circle, the biggest in Ireland, is near Lough Gur, between the Limerick towns of Herbertstown and Bruff.

Or take a day in Limerick City, former home of Frank McCourt of Angela's Ashes fame, River Shannon boat tours, King John's Castle, Limerick City Museum and quite a large amount of nightlife: bop along to Dolan's Warehouse for some of the best live music gigs.
