Liked: Felt wild’ish & pretty woods once we found them. Decent fire pits and log seats etc.
Disliked: Main road v noisy & close.
Despite the 11pm quiet rule, the neighboring field were raving until 1am.
Not that easy to navigate around the site as a first time visitor.

From the manager: We are saddened to read you didn't have a great stay with us Paul! Due the campsites wild-ish nature it can be quite an adventure trying to find a pitch or area that suits, but we do provide a map upon booking and there is one on display in the main car park. Thankfully its rare, but if we are ever notified of excessive noise by other campers we always act swiftly to deal with it, and are based on site 24/7 to do so.
Well maintained hidden gem of a campsite

Non-electric forest floor tent pitch
Liked: We loved camping here this weekend. Picking your own spot was great. The owner was quick to reply with any questions, and often on site. The pitch we chose (9) was clean and the ground soft for pitching up on. It was lovely and private, we also had lots of animals walking by the tent at night, and lots of birds. Can't recommend enough. The toilets were clean and smell free. Each pitch was within a 2 minute walk of the car park which meant it was easy to unload the car. Didn't brave the shower, but looked clean. So cheap and amenities near by. Can't wait to return 😊

Non-electric forest floor tent pitch
Liked: Beautiful woodland surroundings with secluded pitches. Henry the manager was very welcoming and helpful. All the facilities were clean and well kept. I bought a copy of one of Henry's books and it made for a very entertaining fireside read. The perfect place if you want to hang out in the woods and get away from it all. After reading the book I plan on coming back and try out a foraging course and the workout.

Liked: Loved everything about this place. If wild camping is your thing then this is exactly what you're looking for.
Definitely look around for your pitch, we settled at 17 and we dont regret it.
The owner is lovely and nothing is too much trouble.
Disliked: Nothing at all. Its a fab place.
Just a suggestion, maybe on the way down to pitches 18/17 its a bit of a hill so maybe some man made steps could be put in. (I lost my socks and sliders (my own fault for wearing sliders while wild camping) as I slipped back down in the dark 🤣.

Non-electric forest floor tent pitch
Liked: We had a top quality stay at Dagger Wood over the Easter weekend! Perfect for that secluded wild camping feel, with the bonus of toilet and wash facilities on site. Henry even threw in a free bag of kindling as there was a little wait on the logs I'd purchased 😎 Plenty of wood for a 4 hour fire each evening! We also walked along the old railway line into the local villages and enjoyed some drinks at the Temple, and Railway Inn before heading back to camp. Highly recommend if traditional woodland camping is your thing! We'll be staying again 🏕️
