General

  • Small, cosy and family-friendly site near Warminster
  • Five minutes' drive from Longleat
  • Toilets, washing-up area and two family shower rooms

Have Wiltshire peace near Warminster at small, cosy and family-friendly Botany Camping. This is proper back to basics stuff with no electricity on site – but with modern and cleanly-kept amenities set among spectacular surroundings. The kids should be peaceable too, as the site is only five minutes by car from Longleat.

The basic and sustainable amenities here include composting toilets, a gents' urinal, a basin for hand washing, and two family shower rooms with sinks and hot water. There's also a washing-up sink with drainer and hot water: it's safe to say you'll like the views from here...

Although there's no electricity on site, there's a 4G signal for the EE network and 3G for O2 customers. Supplies, shops and restaurants can be sorted in Warminster a very short drive away.

The tents were well equipped with everything we needed. There was lots of information on local amenities and places to go and things to do. The children enjoyed playing in the field with all the toys that were provided.

    Disliked:

The onsite shop could of stocked a few more if the essentials like milk, bread etc. This wasn't important as there is a Tesco Express close by it just meant we wouldn't of had to leave the site.

We stayed at this pitch for two days with three older children. The scenery is spectacular and each pitch is very spacious and the campers are well mannered. The location is excellent for super markets for getting food supplies. The facilities is very clean. You can borrow BBQ stand for free and could buy charcoal & log for a small cost.

    Disliked:

Unfortunately, it is in the very convenient place from A31, so the traffic was quite noisy, but you will get used to it.

Nice, clean, well-organised site 18/07/2017

Reviewer's country: United Kingdom Matt D. Mobile phone icon Confirmed

  • Non-electric grass tent pitch

  • Liked:

Well organised and friendly, particularly in leaving open spaces for children to play. Wheelbarrow to move your stuff from the car to the tent was a good idea. Not crowded and good quality washing and toilet facilities. Handy for town but felt well out in the countryside. Not much in the way of facilities for kids, but mine occupied themselves running round the field with other children for the weekend.

    Disliked:

    Minor quibbles:
    * Could we have solar lights in the composting toilets, please?
    * Assume the electric fence between the campers and the glampers was off, but it would be nice to know for sure.

Devizes, Bradford on Avon, the Kennet and Avon Canal and fishing at Shearwater Lake are all in the area too; other clean good days out are at Bath, also 30 minutes away, and at Glastonbury, Bristol, Wells and the Somerset Levels, all within 45 minutes' drive.
