  • Small, cosy and family-friendly site near Warminster
  • Five minutes' drive from Longleat and 25 from Stonehenge
  • Toilets, washing-up area and two family shower rooms
Have Wiltshire peace near Warminster at small, cosy and family-friendly Botany Camping. This is proper back to basics stuff with no electricity on site – but with modern and cleanly-kept amenities set among spectacular surroundings. The kids should be peaceable too, as the site is only five minutes by car from Longleat. The basic and sustainable amenities here include composting toilets, a gents' urinal, a basin for hand washing, and two family shower rooms with sinks and hot water. There's also a washing-up sink with drainer and hot water: it's safe to say you'll like the views from here… Although there's no electricity on site, there's a 4G signal for the EE network and 3G for O2 customers. Supplies, shops and restaurants can be sorted in Warminster a very short drive away.

Local attractions

Longleat House, Stonehenge, Bath, Salisbury... a wealth of Wiltshire and Somerset options are easy to get to from Botany Camping, and if you want lower key options, walking and cycling are very close by in Longleat Woods. The famed safari park and attractions of Longleat House are just over three miles away (five minutes by car or 15 by bicycle), and Stonehenge is about 25 minutes' drive away. A little further on, the National Trust-managed mansion, woodland, lake and gardens of Stourhead are about 30 minutes away; Thunderbirds fans may be interested to know that a mini replica of the house was used as Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward's pad on the tellybox… Salisbury is within easy driving distance and has several art galleries and festivals alongside its famed cathedral, Salisbury Playhouse and Salisbury Museum with a permanent Stonehenge exhibition gallery. Devizes, Bradford on Avon, the Kennet and Avon Canal and fishing at Shearwater Lake are all in the area too; other clean good days out are at Bath, also 30 minutes away, and at Glastonbury, Bristol, Wells and the Somerset Levels, all within 45 minutes' drive.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: This site was amazing, when i first arrived I couldnt believe how nice it was. Tents all organised around the field, clean, tidy and lots to do. There was a table tennis table, bus restaurant and small shop. BBQ's on site and firepits. Outdoor showers, indoor showers. My grabdchildren loved the outdoor tiolet with a silver seat .

Disliked: Nothing at all
