  • Spacious back to basics site in the Mendip Hills
  • A quarter of an hour's drive from Cheddar; Wells 20 minutes
  • Pick your own pitch; buy logs on site for a firepit
Hillcroft Farm is a spacious rural campsite in a scenic setting with far-reaching views over the Mendip Hills and handy access from the B3134. Located in the countryside of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near the hamlet of Nordrach, this site is great for the energetic and those who appreciate hiking, as well as fans of horseback riding, fishing, swimming, climbing and sailing, all of which are on offer in the surrounding area. Alternatively, of course, you may just prefer to kick back in these laidback surroundings and soak up the views, venturing out from time to time to lounge on the beaches at Weston-super-Mare (30 minutes' drive) and Burnham-on-Sea (35 minutes). Hillcroft Farm has a composting toilet block as part of its eco-friendly efforts, along with showers. Coming here also means that you can borrow a firepit (subject to availability) and set it up by your pitch. You can buy logs on site for your firepit if you need them. The local area has further amenities, and an independent pop-up coffee stand is on hand two minutes' walk down the road for coffee and cake between Monday and Friday (7.30am to 11.30am). Just a little bit further away in Blagdon (five minutes), there's a handy shop, post office and three different pubs to explore.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Overall our stay was good, the field is nice and spacious, the facilities clean and the owners are very friendly. The only downside, if a light sleeper like me, it can get pretty noisy pretty early, as it’s quite close to the road

Disliked: Quite close to the road

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Relaxed arrival and leaving times, open choice of flat, even pitches. Local area is beautiful and owners were friendly.

Disliked: Lack of info about the fact they were composting toilets, lack of soap to wash hands and right next to busy road.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The location is handy to weston supa mare and burnham on sea. Shirley was lovely and so was her husband very friendly couple. The toilets are kept clean and the sawdust to sprinkle does work. The views are nice, fire pits are worth it and we.would definitely come back. Hopefully to less rain next time.

Disliked: My only negative would be for them to possibly buy more fire pits to there is enough for everyone.
