Myrtle Farm Holidays: Myrtle Farm entrance area

General

  • Small, level touring park in Banwell at the foot of the Mendip Hills
  • Two miles from the M5 and five from Weston-Super-Mare
  • Plenty of open space and spectacular views

As the owners of Myrtle Farm Holidays rightly point out, its setting at the foot of Somerset's Mendip Hills means there's something here for all sorts.

Weston-super-Mare is only five miles away, hilly hikes are on the doorstep, and within a quick drive you'll be at famed Somerset and Wiltshire spots like Cheddar Gorge, Bristol and Bath, Stonehenge, Longleat and anciently idiosyncratic Glastonbury. Its semi-rural location a mile from the village of Banwell has it easily accessible too: Junction 21 of the M5 and Worle train station are both two miles away and Bristol airport within 11 miles.

Under new ownership since 2016, Myrtle Farm is a family-run, small and level touring park, welcoming families and adults, and facing south with excellent views. It's well maintained and spacious with plenty of room for kids to run around.

Amenities were updated in 2019 and include a rebuilt shower and toilet block with underfloor heating and disabled facilities, and a new kitchen with a washing machine and tumble dryer, all spotlessly kept and supplied with soap, shower gel and shampoo. A wifi hotspot can be accessed by the amenities.

Village pubs, shops, restaurants, takeaways, a post office and a castle (cream teas in the summer, anyone?) are all a mile away at the farm's local village of Banwell.

The campsite was wonderful. So lovely and clean and lots of space for all campers. Really great facilities that were sparkling clean and spacious. The pitch was flat and big and had a view of a sheep field where there were also lots of birds and a beautiful sunset. Staff were friendly and helpful and it felt very safe and peaceful. Great location close to M5 and supermarkets and Weston Super Mare.

Everything! Really super campsite half an hour walk from the village of Banwell with a great pub. Large sized pitches kept in super condition. Owner Diane really lovely, accommodating and great communication via text before our stay. Gave good directions to avoid narrow roads.
Great location for Cheddar, Brean, Burnham on Sea and Weston beach - a short drive away.
Facilities were amazing!! Really clean and excellent condition. Showers were great…lovely and hot and free!!!! Fridges, washing machine, tumble dryer - fab. Dogs welcome with a designated dog walking area that is kept really clean.
We stayed for three nights and will definitely stay again.

Not our first stay at Myrtle t definitely not last. As per previous stay everything was brilliant. We arrived quite late and only stayed for a night as headed down to Cornwall from Midlands so used this as our half way stop.
Facilities are one of the best we have ever seen and are spotless. Diane is a brilliant and very welcoming host.

Local attractions

The Myrtle Farm Holidays setting at the foot of the Mendip Hills has it perfectly placed for outdoorsy days, with a vast pick of walks, cycle routes, fishing and birdwatching within easy distance.

By car, Cheddar village and the famed and fab Cheddar Gorge are very close by, as is the teeny city of Wells with its cathedral and independent shops. The National Trust-managed Victorian Gothic house of Tyntesfield is ten miles away.

Another cracking option is Glastonbury, with its independent shops and cafés, museums, Glastonbury Abbey and Glastonbury Tor. The golden sandy beaches, seaside shops and wide range of restaurants and bars at Weston-Super-Mare, Brean and Burnham-on-Sea are all within a short drive.

You'll also be within easy driving distance of the cities of Bristol and Bath and their shopping, theatres, cinemas, museums, bars and restaurants. Travel a little further to get to Wiltshire, where must-sees include Stonehenge and Longleat.
