  • Small campsite on a Somerset farm close to Junction 21 of the M5
  • A 10-minute drive to the nearest beach; 40 minutes to Wookey Hole
  • Dog-friendly pitches close to cider pubs, supermarkets and beaches
What a handy spot this is, whether you're planning a lengthy Somerset stay or simply overnighting on the way down to Devon or Cornwall. Cypress Farm Touring Park is in the village of Wick St. Lawrence, and it makes a splendid and peaceful rural base for a family break, checking out the local beaches and visiting the likes of Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge. And it also happens to be just 10 minutes' drive from Junction 21 of the M5, so journeys in, out and all around should be nice and easy too… You'll have the chance to spot lots of wildlife in the surrounding fields at this compact dog-friendly site, which has well-drained level pitches to set up camp on. Amenities stretch to a small but gleamingly clean shower and loo block. For food, you can pick up all the essential ingredients in the supermarkets of Weston-super-Mare (15 minutes’ drive). Alternatively, set out to sample Somerset ciders and tasty pasties in local hostelries and microbreweries. Days out are easily sorted too – you can be on the golf course or on horseback within 15 minutes’ drive, or ship excited youngsters to the beach at Sand Bay (10 minutes). Although the site is happy for you to bring your children, there's not a lot for them to do here other than to use the central grass area for games. They must be supervised at all times to keep them off the grass mound boundaries and away from other guests' pitches. Please note that this site is near the Bristol airport flight path. The planes are not very noisy or very low, but they may be noticeable, depending on the wind direction and time of day.

Non-electric gravel and hardstanding campervan pitch

Liked: Site was spotlessly clean. Very quiet overnight. Management welcoming and helpful

Disliked: Having to pay for a shower, £1 for only 6 minutes- not long enough to wash, shampoo and condition hair, when the pitch fee (without electric) was quite high.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Nice quiet site with clean facilities and immaculate pitches. Very friendly owner. Handy for a stopover off M5. Just stayed 1 night, so didn't explore area. Some pitches near field boundary looked amazing. Some near the barns/facilities didn't have as good an outlook. But we arrived late and left early so not an issue for us.

Disliked: The site was quite expensive for location, and although our electricity was included, there was an additional charge if you used more than an allocated amount of electric.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your comments and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry you felt we were expensive but feel we are fairly priced considering the amount of work and money we have invested in the site since we bought it in 2022. We have built new showers & toilets, installed a new grey & black water disposal area and new electrical meters. We have also installed a road and made the majority of our pitches gravel to make the site weatherproof and suitable to accept visitors all season. This has all come at a very high price and we are a business so need to recoup that investment. We hope you enjoy the rest of your travels in your motorhome and may see you if you are passing again. Thanks Seona B

Route directions

It is much easier to access the site if you use the turning on to Wick Road from the A370. From junction 21 head towards Hewish, then left into Wick Road signposted Wick St Lawrence, follow the road for approximately 8 minutes, past church and Duck Lane, then turn right in to the site. The way via Worle involves a narrow bridge and a tight left turn so is not great for bigger vans or inexperienced drivers.

Local attractions

Sand Bay (10 minutes’ drive) may be the nearest beach to your base camp, but there are choices aplenty for families to play around on, including Brean and Berrow (both half an hour) – and not forgetting Weston-super-Mare beach, with the Water Adventure Play Park at its northern end (both 15 minutes). Other big draws for kids include the underground caves at Wookey Hole (40 minutes), where they can also spot animatronic dinosaurs on woodland walks. Families can try out sports from frisbee-throwing to kayaking at Mendip Activity Centre (20 minutes), and at Puxton Park (10 minutes), you can let kids loose on rope courses and soft-play areas. Wear young legs out hiking in Cheddar Gorge (half an hour) or up to Glastonbury Tor (50 minutes) for views over the Somerset Levels. Introducing a bit of culture into the mix, you can have a nose around medieval Woodspring Priory (10 minutes), take a simulated flight at The Helicopter Museum (10 minutes) and learn about Weston’s seaside-resort backstory at the Weston Museum (15 minutes).
