What customers say
This is a beautiful, peaceful farm campsite offering spacious, level pitches with natural screening and picnic benches. Visitors enjoyed the friendly staff, the presence of farm animals, and the scenic location with a river and opportunities for exploration. While the eco-friendly ethos and facilities are appreciated by many, the lack of showers and the condition of some composting toilets were noted drawbacks for some. The on-site shop is a convenient addition.

Meadow non-electric grass pitch
Liked Location, facilities, atmosphere, stream, farmshop and all the animals to see and feed. If you're up for 8am, you can watch the goats being milked in the barn! Local pub an easy 10 minute walk away which offers takeaway too. Lovely 'hub' shop in the village just past the pub which sells essentials and is also a coffee shop.

An absolute gem of a site.…
Meadow non-electric grass pitch
Liked An absolute gem of a site. Just how we like it. Well kept and lots of space, with minimal facilities.
We stayed in the Meadow (campsite 2) in our single axle touring caravan.
The location of the farm makes it an ideal base for exploring the many attractions in the surrounding area. We were able to visit Wookey Hole, Cheddar, Wells and Glastonbury easily. We even had a day in Weston Super Mare as it was only about 45 minutes away.
The city of Wells is less than a 10 minute drive away and has some major supermarkets as well as being a beautiful place.
Access to the farm is straightforward enough although the lane from Wookey village itself is narrow, its neither blind nor fast, and also very quiet.
We found that coming into the village from Wells Road (B3139) into Preywater Road was the easiest as there are often cars parked along the high street that make it tricky while towing.
DO NOT TRY TO COME IN VIA MONKSFORD LANE DIRECTLY OFF THE WELLS ROAD. Its very narrow with a long and deep ford.
On arrival there is a blackboard that tells you where to pitch.
The meadow is a level field with a couple of water taps, washing up facilities with hot water and 2 little blocks of composting toilets.
Its bordered on one side by the river Axe and has a nice view over the Mendips on the other side.
You can pitch wherever you like in the meadow.
Fire pits are allowed and the atmosphere in the evenings is lovely with pools of firelight dotted around and the smell of woodsmoke hanging in the air.
The rubbish bins are at the entrance to the meadow and are categorized for recycling (recyclables, food waste, and landfill)
The chemical toilet disposal point is in the main campsite (near to the farm entrance)
We had an absolutely lovely, quiet, relaxing break here at Wookey Farm and will most definitely be returning.
Disliked Just a couple of little niggles to point out, and I would like to stress that the first one of them is no fault of Wookey Farm.
As a family, we know how a composting toilet works. We are also passionate recyclers. It seems thats not the case with many of our fellow guests.
Misuse of the composting toilets lead to them being quite smelly. Especially as the week we stayed was quite warm.
And there was constantly recycling mixed in with the landfill waste. And landfill waste in with the food waste even!!
Come on folks. It’s great to see a site so dedicated to environmental sustainability. Please try to help out and do the right thing!
Lastly, the main holding tank for the chemical toilet disposal was brim full at the time of our visit, meaning we had to empty our toilet into the “Backup facility”… and that was a wheelie bin. Definitely not ideal but hopefully not a regular occurrence.

Lovely site but due to lack of showers and flushable toilets no return
Electric optional grass pitch
Liked It was a lovely clean place and pitches were a lovely size camp fires a lovely touch. Everyone very friendly and nothing was too trouble
Disliked Lack of showers and the compost toilets - the smell was horrendously bad. It wafted over the site even with the lids down and the doors shut.

Great weekend on the farm
Meadow non-electric grass pitch
Liked Our 3rd visit to Wookey Farm, 3 nights under the canvas.
We all had a fabulous time playing in the river and sitting by the fire at night. The Ring’O’ bells pub is only a short walk and the food and service is brilliant!
Lovely flat pitches and plenty of space to be free.
The compost toilets are well looked after and are not too far away from any pitch.

Lovely site but improvements needed
Electric optional grass pitch
Liked The space in the centre of the field where the children can play and we can still watch.
Shop is pretty.
Disliked The toilets… the ammonia was unbearable.
Urinals just don’t work, kids can’t aim enough for it, so wee goes all over the floor.
No plugs In the sinks in the toilets, so makes it exceptionally hard to do a strip wash as there are no showers.
The shop is only open for 1 hour a day (except Friday and Saturday where it opened again in the evening for an hour)
More essentials to be provided in there maybe?
