This campsite is highly praised for its excellent location, being very close to the Park & Ride for easy access to Bath. Visitors highlight the clean and well-maintained facilities, including hot showers and toilets. The pitches are described as spacious and level, and the secure gate system provides reassurance. Not a favourite: Ok for Bath P & R. Would consider different site.
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Proximity to Park & Ride which gets you into Bath within about 15 mins
Nice grass plots for tents.
Disliked On-site facilities - very spread out and a bit make-shift, and not much of it.
No one to greet you. Probably ok for some, but make sure you have your gate PIN code for when you arrive - it's a secure gate entry.
Facilities:
No on-site shop or reception.
We arrived during the non-peak time of the year, but (by all appearances) the number of co-ed showers & toilets looked like they'd struggle during peak times. Not sure if the idea is that the busier it gets, the more units could be "towed" onto the grounds (????)
Anyway, there were two shower units that looked like portable units - i.e. on a platform of sorts, and not on solid foundations, similar to the neighbouring toilet "block".
A separate (co-ed) toilet platform consisted of one section of 4 stalls and 3 or 4 hand basins with an additional and separate 1 or 2 shower units next to that - if I recall correctly. It all looked a bit uninviting, but somehow worked.
There were broken bits - hooks that clearly were not securely mounted to begin with and probably under the weight of some personal items were on the floor. Maybe a bench or two would help reduce that sort of strain.
At least the water was clean & showers were hot.
There's separate, but clean drinking water ... but next to the loos
No electric for tent-only, grass plots.
Washing up - looked tiny and remote ... massive walk from the showers & drinking water.
It all looked like an after thought.
TRAFFIC:
If you're sensitive to traffic, get a tent pitch further to the back as the main road to Bath, the race course, and P & R are at the very front of the grounds.
Expensive - clearly they're banking on being close to both the Park & Ride into Bath just opposite, and the horse racing course, also just down the road but opposite direction to Bath.
Scenery - well the campsite pitch was nice: tall grass during peak Spring / Summer so nice for a little "privacy", but that's about it. It's other wise very open, so prone to being very breezy if you're not near any of the trees on the grounds (mostly at front of property or border with neighbouring land). Views consist mostly of some barns, the ugly toilet & shower block(s) towards the sides and back, otherwise the nice tree-lined road (front of property) or farm fileds towards the back.
It's a shame given that just the other side of the road, the views of the valley(s) below are actually quite stunning!

From the manager: Thank you for your review
I see it was you who broke the clothes hook which was fine all this and last year... noone had any issues before you.
Yes the toilet blocks are assorted, its a farm diversification, I am not allowed to build facilities on the land, and that is what I could afford at the time.
I fully intend to decorate the inside and outside but decorating comes after function. - Which as you noted, they work well and our reviews of clean toilets and nice showers far outweigh the odd negative complaint.
- I am almost finish improving the facilities and will be decorating and cladding them very soon.
Regarding the walk, ive staid in many campsites and walked much further than that to reach any facilities. Toilets and showers are roughly 50 - 100mtrs walk depending on where you choose to pitch, all photos are displayed on pitchup gallery of the campsite.
I can only place them where I am allowed by the council and how many is also controlled by permission as well - Its not that I wanted to put them there.
Regarding cost - You cant buy a house in london for the same price in the middle of nowhere... The same goes for everything else.
Prices are based on location.
They are also well displayed, as are all photos of the site and facilities before you book.
Traffic - We are on the main road outside the clean air zone, easy large road access for campervans. Being on the main road also means there is a park and ride bus every 15mins into town and local shops and pubs walking distance. Please bare in mind the benefits outweigh the negatives and that you are visiting one of UK's most historic, touristic city's, there will be signs of city life and busy roads, you are not in the middle of nowhere.
- Yet the campsite situated on farmland with lush grass fields covered in spring flowers and cows next door, makes you feel you can escape that busy city, and thats my goal.
The view if you walked further up past the trees you would seen the beautiful sunset, and on the other side would be the sunrise. Follow the footpath which runs across the farm for beautiful scenic countryside walks.
- You will see farmyard barns, your on a farm.
I am not sure what makes them ugly?
Thats personal choice, they are normal farmyard barns belonging to our neighbours.
Its only my second year, and im one person. Please dont expect a full reception and checkin.
I have cctv and electric gates for security which many approve of for their safety and comfort.
I try to get round and greet who I can but I have an automated system for ease of checkin for every client. All the information is sent to your email.
There is no electric, the pitches are called "non-electric" and you knew this prior to booking so I am not sure how this is a negative. We dont have ehu, its very clear.
Regarding if the facilities will be enough, is purly your speculation, I have added 2 more showers since last year, and i have backup porta-loos if required.
I intend to proceed with further planning and have a second toilet block in the big field but I can only grow and develop in time.
I just spent £5000 on a tank for waste storage in preparation for this future development, i am investing and improving the site a bit at a time
Progress takes time and I can only do this with your patience and understanding. This is not a millionpound company with investors..
Best regards
John

Non-electric grass touring pitch
Liked Easy to find campsite with a secure gate system and clear instructions before arrival. The campsite itself was a lovely flat field with views over the neighbouring farm. Our boys absolutely loved watching the cows and tractors! It was easy to rent a fire pit and buy some logs and each pitch has a paving slab so you can have a fire outside your tent.
To top it all off, when we arrived we realised we’d accidentally left our tent poles at home — total nightmare! But John completely saved the day and kindly lent us his own tent. What a legend!
The toilet and shower facilities were clean and well maintained, and it was really easy to get into Bath on the bus too. We had a brilliant stay and would definitely come back.

Perfect for a few days in tranquility.
Non-electric grass touring pitch
Liked Lovely campsite nice and quiet I mean it is a working farm so expect to noise that comes with it. But it's great little site.
I'm a single mum with two tennagers girls, make note signal is very sporadic but nice to escape tech for a long weekend.
I'm a well seasoned camper the best showers I've had in a very long time.
Great location for exploring Bath we visited to see my brother in Bristol to so great location for there too. Shop just down the road a couple of pubs in walking distance too.
Disliked More toilets and showers, there's a total of 3 showers for everyone on site. But to be fair they are worth the wait.
Ants! Granted it's a farm and your staying in a farmers field but I had to full on anti bac and bleach the van the get rid of the pests when I got home they'd crawled up the vans waste pipe and spread like wild fire in me van 😩

From the manager: Thank you for the review!
Indeed i agree, the facilities will be getting an uplift. Its our second year and I've been busy with function and operations of the facilities, aesthetics will come later - I hope to clad the outside and paint / glampify the inside.

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Beautiful location. Loved watching the hot air balloons and sunsets over the fields. Wonderful green pitch with healthy grass and spring flowers. Love that you can do a campfire and slabs are provided. John the manager is a very friendly guy. Felt secure with the gates. The new toilet block was very useable and professionally finished.
