General
- Well-maintained site three miles from Bath city centre via a towpath
- A 20-minute drive to Dyrham Park and half an hour to Castle Combe
- Wifi, food shop and play area; excellent public transport links
Surrounded by grassy banks, trees for shade, landscaped lawns and lush woodlands, Bath Marina and Caravan Park is set on one of the most splendid stretches of the River Avon.
And despite its rural location, it’s just three miles from Bath, a clear contender for the prize of south-west England’s prettiest city. Head to the centre – on the bus if you’d like to leave the car at home, as there are excellent public transport links – to amble around the impressive blend of Georgian and Roman architecture.
Prefer cycling or walking? Take to the nearby towpath, making sure to factor in enough time out to drop by all the river and canalside pubs enroute to Bath, while admiring the abundant wildlife in the area. Or venture north to attractions in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, from National Trust-protected manor houses like Dyrham Park (20 minutes’ drive) to chocolate-box villages including Castle Combe (half an hour).
When it’s time to come home, retreat back to your hardstanding pitch. Each one has a 16-amp electric hook-up, a television connection point and wifi access, so you can flick through the TV channels or browse the web during quiet evenings. Restaurants are also easy to reach on foot if you fancy dining out.

Local attractions
Home to world-famous hot springs and some of Europe's finest Georgian architecture, the city of Bath offers a distinctive experience for all types of travellers. It’s been designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site for good reason – drop by the eye-catching Royal Crescent, Circus and Pultney Bridge to see why.
If you’re a fan of hearing the till ringing, browse the small independent shops and stylish boutiques in the centre. You could also swot up on the famed author in the Jane Austen Centre or take a dip in the Thermae Bath Spa.
Wild swimming more your thing? Brave the waters of the River Avon – one popular place to submerge yourself is at Warleigh Weir (20 minutes’ drive). Pottering along this wending waterway and its nearby canal is also a prime way to spend the day.
Not gotten your fix of urban explores while in Bath? Make a beeline for Bristol (half an hour) instead for graffiti tours, visits to the towering Clifton Suspension Bridge, harbourside walks and the buzzing nightlife scene.
