  • Family campsite on a Dorset farm 15 minutes’ drive from Weymouth
  • Abbotsbury Swannery 15 minutes’ drive; Monkey World 35 minutes
  • Games field, play area and outdoor swimming pool on site
You couldn’t get a more family-friendly site than West Fleet Holiday Farm. At 15 minutes’ drive from Weymouth in Dorset, there’s masses of space to kick a ball around, a three-acre play area with swings and slides, and an outdoor swimming pool with glimpses of the sea. The farm is set in 15 acres of countryside on the Jurassic Coast, within walking distance of Fleet Lagoon (the setting for John Meade Falkner’s smuggling tale ‘Moonfleet,’ half an hour’s stroll) and Chesil Beach (about 40 minutes). You can also amble down to the South West Coast Path on the private farm track (20 minutes), or walk to the local pub in about the same time. Weymouth, its harbour and sandy beaches (15 minutes’ drive) provide fun-filled family days out, and the site is a handy base for exploring family attractions on the Jurassic Coast like Lyme Regis and Charmouth (both 40 minutes). There are plenty of helpful facilities on site, including a shop and off-licence carrying all the essentials, as well as showers, washing-up points and a launderette. In keeping with this being a family-centric site, no groups are allowed, and please keep noise to an absolute minimum between 10.30pm and 8am, so everyone can get some shut eye.

What customers say

This is a spacious and clean campsite with friendly staff and excellent facilities, including a well-maintained pool and play area. Pitches are generously sized, and the site is praised for its quiet atmosphere, especially during evenings, and its family-friendly rules. While most guests had a positive experience, some noted issues with pool access times, communication about rules, and occasional problems with on-site food.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Big pitches, nice play park and swimming pool was good. Toilets and showers were very clean. The evening entertainment and bingo was fun.
We loved that the site was silent after 10.30pm which was lovely when you have kids who want to sleep!

Disliked It would have been nice to have a toilet block nearer our pitch (264) to use late or during the night but the e walk was fine during the day.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked We camped electric as a family of 3 for 4 nights. The pitch was of a good size with lots of space so you don't feel surrounded by tents. We were lucky as we had no direct neighbours during our stay, so felt very private. The staff were very friendly. The pool was a godsend, especially after putting the tent up in the heat. The booking system was great as it is not the biggest pool so helped with numbers. The shop was well stocked and the bar was a nice bonus in the evening.
Lots of space for children to play and the field had the most beautiful sunsets across the sea.
Toilets and showers were spotless and great washing up facilities and drinking water.
My favourite part was no noise after 10.30pm, we love camping but struggle with noise at night, we appreciate people are enjoying themselves but this site prides itself on being family friendly. I had the best 4 nights sleep. This was one of the reasons we booked!
The site was so tidy and well maintained.
A short drive to Weymouth beach and a bonus walk from the site, the instructions given when we booked in were fantastic.
We will definitely be back.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The staff were extremely helpful. Especially as we had to get help to unlock a gate. The rules they lay out are the same as any other site. The staff were always courteous and polite. The site was well maintained, pool and clubhouse were spot on. The shop was well stocked with all you need.

Disliked Only downside I think they could do with a small toilet block in paddock D. Everything else was spot on.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Toilets and showers very clean. Pool was also very clean. Good views and nice and spacious. The shop had meat for sale from the farm.

Disliked Very strict rules. The pool rules are two places long. You are not allowed to even have a soft plastic ball in the pool. Super fussy and over the top about H&S. There was a ranger going around telling everyone off about anything. Never a hello or how are you, just being negative the whole time. The campsite was half empty and I imagine that is why.

Local attractions

Weymouth (15 minutes’ drive) on the West Dorset Heritage Coast is a popular seaside resort for several very good reasons. As well as flopping on the beach on sunny days, you can try dinghy sailing, kayaking or windsurfing, watch the Town Bridge lift (and bring the traffic to halt) to let yachts into the marina, or learn about the Black Death of 1348 at the history museum. Most kids will adore meeting endangered primates at Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre (35 minutes). You can feed the stately birds (and cygnets in spring) at Abbotsbury Swannery, or wander around the water features at Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens to spot sculptures tucked into the undergrowth. Both attractions are 15 minutes by car and set on Chesil Beach – just the spot for a bracing stroll in the sea air. Putting a bit of heritage into your holiday mix, have a gander at the gun platforms and Tudor kitchens in Portland Castle (20 minutes), while red-and-white Portland Bill Lighthouse (half an hour) has splendid views over the Jurassic Coast from its lantern room. Fans of military vehicles can spend all day admiring scores of vintage tanks at The Tank Museum (40 minutes), while railway buffs might prefer to see the scenic coastline on board a Swanage Railway steam train (an hour).
